Frank "Sugar Chile" Robinson performs "Caldonia" in the classic movie "No Leave, No Love" (MGM, 1946). Although this has already been posted on YouTube, I am including the entire scene, which has some cute dialogue between Frank and the other actors, Van Johnson, Keenan Wynn, and Marina Koshetz.

I have spoken fairly recently with Mr. Robinson, who said this was the only movie in which he appeared. What a crying shame! Thankfully, there are other films of him on YouTube. Robinson said he performed as a guest in a Frankie Carle piano contest in Detroit, where he was discovered and given a contract from MGM. Five bucks says longtime rap fans got chills when they first heard Common and Pete Rock were working on a project. Chicago’s most poetic OG connecting with the revered Mt. Vernon hero behind “They Reminisce Over You”? C’mon, that’s an event. And maybe those chills became a bit more pronounced when the same fans heard “Wise Up,” the first volley from the ‘The Auditorium Vol. 1.’ The track and its very cool video arrived with an old school gravitas driven by a modern sense of kinetics. Turns out ‘The Auditorium Vol 1.’ glows with a classic aura from start to finish. Boom bap echoes with a 2024 sheen. We brought our cameras to the very place where they cut the new project: the famed Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village, where it was quickly apparent that the legends were in their element, chopping it about everything from the ins and outs of their partnership to the state of “real rap.” Interwoven ctrl performances elevate the experience to the next level, too. This one is for all you hip-hop heads out there.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
As a transplant from Boston, teenager Ren MacCormack (Kenny Wormald) gets a big dose of culture shock when he moves to a small Southern town called Bomont. A few years prior, a fatal accident involving five youths led local councilmen and a beloved clergyman (Dennis Quaid) to enact ordinances against loud music and dancing. Ren -- never one to toe the line -- challenges the ban, simultaneously revitalizing Bomont and falling in love with the clergyman's troubled daughter (Julianne Hough).

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Mousse up your hair and pull your Missing Persons records out of mothballs for this romantic comedy set in that era of questionable fashion decisions, the '80s. In 1985, Robbie Hart (Adam Sandler) is a vocalist whose rock band stubbornly refuses to get off the ground. In the meantime, he makes a living playing wedding receptions, where his easy charm and ability to schmooze brings him a steady income. Robbie meets Julia Sullivan (Drew Barrymore) when she's working as a waitress at one of his wedding gigs; he immediately takes a shine to her, but since he's engaged, he keeps his distance. Robbie learns that Julia is also engaged; unfortunately, her fiancée Glen Gulia (Matthew Glave) is an obnoxious, self-obsessed yuppie who is chronically unfaithful to her. When Robbie gets stood up at the altar by his fiancée, it's a crushing blow to his ego, and he moves from working weddings to bar mitzvahs to avoid the humiliating issue of matrimony, and he considers giving up on music altogether. In time, Robbie realizes that he needs to step in and stop Julia from marrying Glen before the woman he's come to love ruins her life. Adam Sandler's former Saturday Night Live co-stars Kevin Nealon and Jon Lovitz make cameo appearances, as do Steve Buscemi and Billy Idol -- as himself.
