Over the decades, several songs have been banned for several reasons. One of the earliest in the states was Billie Holliday's rendition of the poem strange fruit. Other artists who have had songs banned for political reasons include Loretta Lynn, NWA, Lady Gaga, and Stevie Wonder. Madonna, who's no stranger to a song or a video ban, has had her music censored sometimes due to its political nature and in other cases, the graphic nature of the music videos. Even in Kpop, groups like Blackpink and EXO have had songs banned, typically either for vulgar language, or for endorsing brands in their music. In other cases, the songs were never banned, but did inspire widespread campaigns to get the music off the airwaves. Some artists this has happened to include Britney Spears, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Nicki Minaj. Nicki's song Anaconda, was however, banned in Nigeria, yet not in the US.
