We recently caught up with Hit-Boy, Big Hit & HitgirlLENA while out in LA for a very special edition of “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation they talked Hitgirl talked about growing up in North Carolina, moving to LA last year, jumping off the porch when she was 13, Big Hit speaks on his upbringing, his relationship with his dad, having to grow up early, living on his own when he was 12 years old, the culture in LA during the early 80’s, turning to the streets, getting locked up for the first time when he was 12, Hit-Boy growing up knowing about his dad’s reputation, starting to take music seriously when he was 13, explains how he got into making beats, Hitgirl explains how her father inspired her to start making music, raps the first song she ever wrote, Big Hit being locked up for 30 years of his life including 9 years in the hole, deciding to focus on music when he came home the last time, being beaten nearly to death by the police while locked up in county, catching Covid 3 times while locked up during the pandemic, Hit-Boy moving to Atlanta & working with Polow Da Don, getting his first major placement on J-Lo’s album, advice he received from Polow, producing Lil Wayne & Eminem’s “Drop The World”, winning 3 Grammy’s, Big Hit going straight to the studio when he left jail, their song “Police”, being creative with concepts for their songs, their song “Monte Carlo” with Dom Kennedy, their project ‘Black & Whites’ with The Alchemist, producing for Jay-Z & Nas, Hitgirl’s song “Gank Move”, preferring to write instead of freestyling, producing Kanye’s “Clique” with Big Sean & Jay-Z, producing Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle”, producing A$AP Rocky’s “1Train”, producing Big Sean’s “Friday Night Cypher”, working closely with Dom Kennedy, Big Hit reveals one of the biggest life lessons he learned, Hitgirl’s goals, upcoming projects, and much more!
