Khalid: ‘Scenic Drive,’ Writer's Block, and the Moment He Found Music Again | Apple Music
Khalid sits down with Zane Lowe to discuss the next phase in his music career, including the release of "Present," announcement of his third studio album, ‘Everything Is Changing,’ producing his latest EP, 'Scenic Drive (The Tape),' and setting huge goals for the near future. Khalid explains that he owes much of his career to the city of El Paso, a town that inspired “Saved,” “Location,” and “American Teen.” After leaving El Paso, the pandemic forced Khalid into a period of reckoning and writer's block. Finally, after a moment of creative darkness, Khalid decided to spontaneously move to Malibu where he produced, ’Scenic Drive,’ an 8 track EP featuring Ari Lennox, Kiana Ledé, Lucky Daye, and 6LACK amongst others.
