Mariah The Scientist On Birth Name Being Inspired By Mariah Carey, Studying Biology & Life'

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Mariah The Scientist, born Mariah Amani Buckles, has shared in previous interviews that her stage name reflects her analytical approach to life and music. Speaking with Nick Cannon, the songstress goes even deeper into her birth and stage name. The "From A Woman" singer reveals that her mother, being a huge Mariah Carey, fan decided that if she was to give birth to a girl, then she would name her Mariah.

As for the The Scientist portion of her stage name, she shares that she’s a big lover of science, and prior to her getting into music, she pursued her bachelor's degree in biology on a scholarship from St. John’s University in New York, in hopes to become an anesthesiologist. It was during her time at St. John’s that she would begin writing music. She left school in her final semester to go after her musical pursuits.
