In this clip, Montell Jordan recounted signing his first record deal and revealed that it was only worth $130,000. He also described how he managed to get Def Jam to clear a Slick Rick sample for him to use on “This Is How We Do It.” Speaking of which, Montell also detailed how his life changed after that record dropped but admits he didn’t capitalize on the success of the song like he should’ve.
