Before his rap career blew up, a young Quan would often run into Jay-z in his hometown Newport News, affiliated with his best friend and guys from his neighborhood before Jay-Z officially blew up. In Quan’s neighborhood he was almost expected to rub shoulders and make the same push in rap around that time as Jay-Z, seeing as he was considered the rapper on the block that would one day take his entire crew with him to a better life through music. At just that moment, he’s locked up for what would be a serious 7 year prison sentence. A few months after his bid began, Jay-Z dropped “Ain’t no” and took off into one of the most successful musicians/people of all time. Quan came home and opportunity pulled up on him again, this time in the form of coincidentally meeting Nas, seeing if he was ready this time, and fortunately he was. Quan came equipped with something most rappers never get in their entire pursuit of a career, a hit song “Just a moment”. Nas got on the song and fit seamlessly, leaving Quan with a spot on his new album and made the song one of his singles. He also proclaimed Quan the future and baton bearer to carry hip hop.
