Andre Harrell | Uptown, New Jack Swing & The Legacy He Left Behind

American music executive and multimedia producer Andre O’Neal Harrell was born on September 26, 1960 in The Bronx, New York. In 1983, Andre would meet entrepreneur, record executive, writer, and film producer Russell Simmons. Andre went to work for him at Rush Management and played a major role in building the careers for the likes of Run-DMC, LL Cool J, and Whodini. After gaining several years of experience under his belt, Andre would leave Def Jam and start his own label, Uptown Records in 1986.
