Today’s artist is pretty much a cautionary tale on what happens when you choose to associate with the wrong people in the hop hop industry. Petey Pablo was an impressive up and coming rapper from a then fairly unknown North Carolina; making a name for himself for his anthems like Raise Up and Freek-A-Leek. He found success on Jive and released two Gold Certified albums before he completely fell off the map. What happened? Well he started messing around with the industry blackballed Suge Knight and stalled his career in its’ early stages. Six years later he wound up arrested for trying to get a loaded stolen pistol aboard an airplane on 9/11. He served just over two years and walked free just in time to try and kick-start his career. Unfortunately the damage had been done and despite that he has been sporadically releasing music since 2016; he remains a little-known artist. This video’s a Sunday afternoon one so make a cup of tea and let’s get into it!
