Johnny Nash - Tears On My Pillow • TopPop
Johnny Nash (NOT Cash) started his career in the 50’s with pop and R&B but went into reggae in the sixties. He had a hit song titled "I Can See Clearly Now" in 1972 which is widely recognized. The song was later on covered by Dutch singer Lee Towers who also had a big hit with it. Another well-known Nash son is Stir it up, which lyrics were written by bob Marley. Nash met the Jamaican singer during a trip in 1967. It was Marley’s first hit (as a writer) outside Jamaica. Nash's "Tears on My Pillow" spent a week at the top of the UK Singles Chart in July 1975, describing his heartbreak after his girl ran off with his best friend. Originally written as "I Can't Take It" in 1967, the song was retitled when Nash recorded it eight years later.
