Dawit shares his journey from Eritrea to America, including the struggle for Eritrean independence, the impact of colonization, and the sacrifices that shaped his decision to leave home and pursue a new life in the United States.

Blacc Sam reflects on growing up between two cultures as the son of an Eritrean father and an African American mother in Los Angeles. He shares how his father kept him and his brothers connected to their Eritrean roots through community events, food, language, soccer tournaments, and trips back home to Eritrea. The family discusses identity, the relationship between Eritrea and Ethiopia, and why understanding history and culture has always been important to the Asghedom family. The conversation also explores the family’s unforgettable trip to Eritrea, where Blacc Sam and his brother experienced firsthand how their relatives lived.

Blacc Sam then opens up about building the business side of the Marathon brand and continuing his late brother Nipsey Hussle's vision. He also shares how the family has worked to preserve Nipsey Hussle’s intellectual property, music, merchandise and future projects for the next generation.

Blacc Sam explains how Nipsey’s legacy continues through Marathon future business ventures and a documentary focused on Nipsey Hussle and the making of his music. He also reflects on the importance of generational wealth and ensuring that Nipsey’s children remain at the center of the empire their family continues to build.
