Exclusively speaking with Nick Cannon on the new AMP show “The Daily Cannon,” Brooklyn native Troy Ave shared his side of the story surrounding the fatal shooting incident that went down back in 2016. While the rapper has remained relatively quiet over the years, for legal reasons concerning his trial where he was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Ave candidly expresses his disappointment with the hip-hop community as he feels no one took his situation seriously as he describes the years-long experience of being stalked on social media, which ultimately led up to the fatal night at Irving Plaza. The ‘Dear Hater I Won’ vividly takes Nick back to the night of the event where his friend and bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter was murdered. Troy describes the moment he explains as self defense, “Now we fighting for the gun and s**t, he start squeezing those shots. I’m biting the n***a on his neck, he’s biting my forearm. I managed to get more control of the gun than him, I just start pistol-whipping him.”

Troy goes on to speak on his new album, the narratives that have been created about him, his struggles after being released from jail, and much more.
