Tove Lo - Grapefruit (Official Music Video)

Dirt Femme Out Now 🦂: https://tovelo.ffm.to/dirtfemme

❗️TW❗️

I’ve tried to write this song for over 10 years. I know I haven’t talked about it a lot in interviews or even in my music which is my most honest place. I guess I had to find the right way to share the feelings and the vicious circle of behavior I was stuck in. I’ve been free from my ED and my body issues for a very long time but they did take up too many of my teenage years. I’m not sure why I wrote this song now. Maybe the 2 years of stillness brought back memories, maybe I needed all this time I’ve been free from it to be able to look back without feeling pain. One of the many feelings I remember is needing to crawl out of my own skin. I felt so trapped in a body I hated. I wanted a video that portrayed that, and Lisette and Toogie knew exactly how to create that with me. It was honestly really hard putting myself back in that headspace but it was necessary for me.
I’m gonna let the song speak for itself now ❤️

Lyrics

Counting while I run the tap
I'm on my knees
Choking on my hands all night
In my sleep
Counting all the calories
Now get ‘em up
Body positivity
Help me out

The swans of ballet
Their skin and their bones
That’s not me
I’d die for my love though
Break, break till I wither away

What I see is not me
What I see is not me

1 2 Grapefruit
How am I back here again?
3 4 lose more
I know my mirrors are lying
5 6 hate this
Take back the body I’m in

What I see is not me
What I see is not me

1 2 Grapefruit
Wish I could change overnight
3 4 lose more
Kill my obsession please die
5 6 hate this
How am I still in this fight?

What I see is not me
What I see is not me

Sweet girl you’re so disciplined
Now keep it down
I don't like my measurements
Won't make a sound

Diana how she guards the clock
She’s in control
Now why is everyone in shock?
You let her go

The swans of ballet
Their skin and their bones
That’s not me
I’d die for my love though
Break, break till I wither away

What I see is not me
What I see is not me

1 2 Grapefruit
How am I back here again?
3 4 lose more
I know my mirrors are lying
5 6 hate this
Take back the body I’m in

What I see is not me
What I see is not me

1 2 Grapefruit
Wish I could change overnight
3 4 lose more
Kill my obsession please die
5 6 hate this
How am I still in this fight?

When I'm hurting
Every time I have a bad day
Then everyone gets lost

But I’m learning
Every time I feel out of place
That you’re all I’ve got

1 2 Grapefruit
How am I back here again?
3 4 lose more
I know my mirrors are lying
5 6 hate this
Take back the body I’m in

What I see is not me
What I see is not me

1 2 Grapefruit
Wish I could change overnight
3 4 lose more
Kill my obsession please die
5 6 hate this
How am I still in this fight?

What I see is not me
What I see is not me

I'm coming back to you
And I hope you don't mind that I'm wasting your time
I know you want me too
Even though you're not mine
You got that look in your eyes
Come on tell me where you at
When you're back
I won't keep you up
Take a nap
A little gasoline and a match

You just like it better when it's cold
Woah
Ahhhhh
This ain't what you want
This is what you need
Wake up in the morning
Know just what ya need need need need

I'm coming back to you
So I really hope that you don’t mind
I know you want me too
Even though you’re not mine
You got that look in your eyes
Can you remember when I crossed it
Put the sweat up in this
Like a mosh pit
Think I'm done up in this

Don't you stop me
Don't wanna see you throw a fit

You just like it better when it's cold
Woah
Ahhhhh

LYRICS:
Oh, don't I look nice, batting my eyes, isn't it pure perfection?
Cute, think I'm polite, stereotype, got your full attention
Think that you can play with me, you better watch your back
The last thing that you'll hear will be my laugh (Haha, yeah)

'Cause, baby, dolls kill, don't provoke us or we will
Push you downhill, might be pretty, but we're still
Bitter as much as we're sweet, knife hidden under the sheets
Baby, dolls kill, don't provoke us or we will

Heels, madе out of steel, how does it feel to be walked all ovеr?
Nails leaving a trail, got 'em pigtails, blood drips down your shoulder
Baby, there's power in numbers, better warn all of your friends
You're down to less than an hour, we all know how this ends

Dolls kill, don't provoke us or we will
Push you downhill, might be pretty, but we're still
Bitter as much as we're sweet, knife hidden under the sheets
Baby, dolls kill, don't provoke us or we will - GO!

Sugar and spice and everything nice
No, that's not what we're made of
Venom and ice, tequila that bites
Go ahead and pray 'cause

'Cause, baby, dolls kill, don't provoke us or we will
Push you downhill, might be pretty, but we're still
Bitter as much as we're sweet, knife hidden under the sheets
Baby, dolls kill, don't provoke us or we will

[VERSE 1]
I’m familiar with unrequited
I know you got a heart that’s undecided just like mine
It takes it sweet time

I been shy to dive into the deep end
Cause I don’t really wanna lose a good friend but I might
Find something divine

[PRE-CHORUS]
It’s electric every time we touch
I’ve been living for this head rush
But sometimes it’s too much

[CHORUS]
If we never try
How will we know
Baby how far this thing could go

Give me a sign
If I’m on your mind
I don’t want to fall in love alone

[VERSE 2]
I wish that I could tell what you were thinking
I hate that I slip up when I’ve been drinking but oh well
I can’t help myself

I’m getting really tired of the back and forth
Why don’t we just give on to this driving force I mean
There’s something between us

[PRE-CHORUS]
It’s electric every time we touch
I’ve been living for this head rush
But sometimes it’s too much

[CHORUS]
If we never try
How will we know
Baby how far this thing could go

Give me a sign
If I’m on your mind
I don’t want to fall in love alone

If we never try
How will we know
Baby how far this thing could go

Give me a sign
If I’m on your mind
I don’t want to fall in love alone

[OUTRO]
Fall, I don’t wanna fall
I don’t wanna fall in love alone

A NOT FIT FOR SOCIETY PRODUCTION

LYRICS:
I summoned you
Please come to me
Don’t bury thoughts that you really want
I fill you up
Drink from my cup
Within me lies what you really want
Come lay me down
Cause ya know this
Cause ya know the sound

In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night
Just call my name
I’m yours to tame
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night
I’m wide awake
I crave your taste all night long
Till morning comes
I’m getting what is mine
You gon' get yours oh no ooo
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night ohh woah

These burnin flames
These crashin' waves
wash over me like a hurricane
I captivate you’re hypnotized
feel powerful but it’s me again yea
come lay me down
Cause I know this
Cause I know this sound

In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night
Just call my name
I’m yours to tame
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night
I’m wide awake
I crave your taste all night long
Till morning comes
I’m getting what is mine
You gon' get yours oh no ooo
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night oh woah

Just call on me
Just call my name
Ya call on meeeeee

In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night
Just call my name
I’m yours to tame
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night
I’m wide awake

Lyrics:
Uh oh
Uh oh
Uh oh
You made a mistake
Uh oh
Uh oh
Tell me things that can’t be true

Your slacks are on fire
I’m fanning the flames
Like a vampire
Stood out in broad day
Shoulda been wiser
While pickin’ out
What you were gonna say
oh

Fool me once
That’s one too many
Better luck next time you’ve met me
Where’s the dunce
Who caught you meddling

Turn around
Uh oh

Uh oh
Uh oh
Uh oh
You made a mistake
Uh oh
Uh oh
Tell me things that can’t be true

You’re sweating this time
I’m reading your eyes
You’re being called out
‘Cause you slipped your mouth
Your face has turned pale
Gone faint, you’re not well
While you were distracted
I cast a spell

Uh oh better run away now
Uh oh you’ve made a mistake aw
Uh oh got nothing else to say to you
Uh oh

Uh oh
Uh oh
Uh oh
You made a mistake
Uh oh
Uh oh
Tell me things that can’t be true

Forgive this wed intermission
Tragically I’m not the victim here
If only I fell for your fiction
Tell me things that can’t be true

LYRICS:
You taste like cigarettes
I hit it every chance I get
Girl you got me dripping sweat
You pull me back every time I quit
Yea

You taste like cigarettes
Your body feels like disrespect
Let you play me like an instrument
But I’m addicted to it yea I’m addicted to it yea yea

I felt her coming and I couldn’t escape
I’m in the belly of the beast again
My dirty secret that keeps me awake
Don’t stop now you got me ready to BLOW!

Ohhhhh

You taste like cigarettes
I got a problem think I’m into it
I breathe her in and hold it in my chest
I take a hit and let it burn my lips
Burn my lips (hey!)

I felt her coming and I couldn’t escape
I’m in the belly of the beast again
My dirty secret that keeps me awake
Don’t stop now you got me ready to BLOW!

Ohhhhh

BLOW!

You got me blowing away
I’ll do anything
Tell me what to do
Ooh ooh ooh

Twinkle twinkle where’s the star
Passed out in the back of my car
Blacked out from the night before
How’d we let it get this far?

Lyrics:

• Lyrics |
