The Authority On All Things R&B !
On this week's episode of R&B Money, Tank and J Valentine unravel the weaving threads that make up Theron Thomas' illustrious career in music. Enveloped by exotic flora on the Caribbean Island of St. Thomas, a young Theron shared an unassuming bedroom with his brother Timothy: four walls confining their ambition but not containing it - fanning its flames was their father who continually inspired them to hone their craft and be nothing less than excellent performers; thus Rock City would ultimately come alive for what we now know as global success both critically acclaimed & commercially revered alike. Appearing before our very eyes is none other than most electrifying talent himself ready to divulge erudite lessons learned from navigating unbeknownst pathways within today's industry including identification skillset grounded upon trustworthiness plus insane records crafted alongside Dr Luke then continuing onto penmanship collaboration with Babyface; furthering onto crafting smashes for respective A list singers such as Usher, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, Ciara, Sean Kingston, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo + many more. Big Pun Put A Gun To JAY-Z' Chest & Chased Him Around A Couch [JAY-Z Vs. Big Pun Beef] Hotney 2 vistas • 4 años hace

Big Pun Chased JAY-Z With A Bottle, Big Pun Chased JAY-Z Around The Couch & JAY-Z Vs. Big Pun Beef - Hip-Hop Universe

This video touches on one of the many stories that are part of the beef between JAY-Z & Big Pun / Fat Joe (Roc-A-Fella Vs. T*rror Squad). It's the first of many chapters that will be released as separate videos & will be included in the upcoming Beef Analysis.

Full Beef Analysis: https://youtu.be/f8-HjLZTwKU
Part 1: https://youtu.be/OAYHyqpVRao (Big Pun Chased JAY-Z With A Bottle)
Part 2: https://youtu.be/JvpedmjIHRc (Big Pun Threatening DJ Whoo Kid over a JAY-Z & Sauce Money Diss Record)
Part 3: https://youtu.be/quHiDYdxsrQ (Big Pun Chased JAY-Z Around A Couch)

This incident was mentioned in the original version of Nas' JAY-Z Diss Track "Ether":

"Call yourself gangsta' but you were begging for pardon
That night in Carbon, when T*rror Squad flipped on your squadron
Tried to front on their checks
Till Pun put a g*n to your chest"

During the late 90s, Big Pun and Jay-Z had aggressive competition going on, that resulted in a bottle getting cracked over one of their heads. Years later after Pun passed away and was never harmed in the situation, Fat Joe was at the middle of a beef between Nas and JAY-Z.

Cuban Link spent a good portion of his career as a member of Terror Squad with Fat Joe and Big Pun. No longer affiliated with TS, the Cuban performer recently recalled a heated situation between Jay-Z and Pun, explaining that tensions arose after Hov failed to perform at an event commissioned by their associates.

“Actually, the Roc-A-Fella sh*t, it was a little brawl. It was some business negotiations that went sour,” he told ThisIs50 Radio. “Jay-Z was supposed to perform for 15 G’s or something like that, and it was like some street ni**as that we knew that hired him. He didn’t go and perform. He just showed up.”

The two camps met at a label to settle the discrepancy, but Hov brought along some children to make sure that no shots rang out. “All I remember was Jay-Z doing the Matrix in the room by the couch, and Pun chasing him,” he said. “Joe talking sh*t. The pressure was definitely put on. I love Jay.”

An altercation between Jay Z and Big Pun during which the T*rror Squad MC allegedly hit Hov with a bottle is now the stuff of hip-hop folklore. Talk about the storied brawl resurfaced with a recent interview with N.O.R.E. on Taxstone’s Tax Season podcast. When asked whether or not Pun actually hit Jay Z with the bottle, N.O.R.E. responded with “absolutely.”

“Don’t get it twisted,” he said. “Roc-A-Fella was hitting n***as in the head with bottles too. Them n***as was wilding! I was on that tour…and it was in Connecticut watching Flex [Fat Joe’s former manager] and Ty Ty [Tyran Smith] was arguing.”

But Big Pun’s widow, Liza Rios, begs to differ. In an interview with DoggieDiamonds, Rios denied that Pun ever hit Jay Z with a bottle.

“So this story about Pun hitting him with a bottle, I don’t know where it came from, I don’t know why they keep bringing it up or keeping it alive, because the truth was [that] it wasn’t the truth,” Rios said. “If it was true, I’d gladly say, ‘Yeah, he hit him with a bottle’ but that’s not the case. At the end of the day, Pun, as well as myself, we was Jay Z fans… He’s always been a Jay Z fan and that’s it. I would appreciate if whoever keeps telling this story would just lay it down to rest because it’s not true. It never happened, it never happened, it never happened, it never happened.”

"Krautrock" nannten die Engländer abschätzig die Musik, die zu Beginn der 70er Jahre in Deutschland entstand. In der sechsstündigen Dokumentation wird diese Epoche erstmals im Deutschen Fernsehen aufgearbeitet. Alle stilprägenden Gruppen jener Jahre werden in Wort und Bild vorgestellt, darunter viele Aufnahmen, die seit ihrer Erstausstrahlung nicht mehr gezeigt wurden.

WE CALL IT TECHNO! A documentary about Germany’s early Techno scene and culture Hotney 2 vistas • 4 años hace

Inspired by new sounds, new technologies and the political events of the time, the early 90s sees the emergence of a scene that euphorically celebrates the dawning of a new era.
In Berlin, Frankfurt and many other German cities, activists tinker on a new music and club culture oriented around the coordinates Techno and House.
At Berlin's Love Parade in 1991, different local scenes congregate for the first time. The trend turns into a movement. A German Summer of Love, which changes whole lives overnight and kick-starts careers.
The basic principle of Techno stands for experimenting, crossing borders and DIY. Fans become DJs or party promoters. Labels are founded and record stores open up. The scene grows. An independent microcosm is created. Networks are formed away from established structures. For a moment everything seems possible…
WE CALL IT TECHNO! tells the story of a tempestuous phase in music history, the first time that pop culture was created significantly in Germany.
With exclusive interviews and comprehensive, mostly unreleased film and photo archive material from the years 1988-1994!

Incl. Statements from Ata, Cosmic Baby, Mijk van Dijk, Elsa for Toys, Hell, Mike Ink., Jürgen Laarmann, Mark Reeder, Tanith, Triple R, Upstart, Sven Väth, Wolle XDP and many more

“This music had such power that we left everything behind... We felt like a new age was starting and we were the first to notice.” (Upstart, Munich)

“It was like a dance on a vulcano. Like: technology brings us progress, but it’ll also destroy us. On the other hand: who gives a sh!t, first I’ll just dance.” (Wolle XDP, Berlin)

“We did a lot of space studies at the time. It all tended towards psycho-active stimulation with the aim of going up and it all never coming to an end. Actually, we tried the weirdest stuff. (Elsa For Toys, Berlin)

“1989, after the fall of the Wall, when the Techno movement in Berlin grew from one day to the next, we all felt like we could change the world.” (Cosmic Baby, Berlin)

“The Moment of unity was short, it lasted maybe one summer.” (Ralf Niemczyk, Cologne)

“It’s nice to see that many people in this context made it, that Techno and House isn’t just stupifying music connected to drugs.” (Frank Blümel, Berlin)

Nina Burmi | Mishra Bhairavi Thumri | Indian Classical Music Hotney 2 vistas • 4 años hace

KAUSHIKI CHAKRABORTY LONDON CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT: The Darbar team wanted to let you know that our next concert features Kaushiki Chakraborty performing at the Barbican Centre in London. Tickets start from only £20 and the front rows are now sold out. Click here to book your tickets immediately - https://bit.ly/3gCDAFW

This will probably be remembered as London’s finest vocal concert of 2023.
-----
Nina Burmi uses her smooth three-octave vocal range to explore the thumri style - a semi-classical genre intimately connected with dance, poetry, and drama.

Learn more about the music:
Thumri is a sensuous ‘light classical’ style, originating in Uttar Pradesh. The word is derived from the Hindi ‘thumakna’, meaning ‘to walk with dancing steps so as to make the ankle-bells tinkle’, and the genre remains closely connected with dance and drama. Ragas are treated more flexibly, and songs are often devotional, romantic, or even erotic in nature. Lyrics have a central role, often being based on folk tales or classical poetry, and commonly depicting the separation of lovers, or myths of Lord Krishna.

Nina Burmi sings in the Kirana gharana style, tackling khayal, thumri, bhajan, and other forms. Currently living in the UK, she trained under the esteemed husband-wife pairing of Dilshad Khan and Parveen Sultana, and combines the latter’s wide vocal range with a more sparsely ornamented approach. In this song she is joined by top accompanists, with lyrics describing the tension and sorrow of a lover who is separated from Lord Krishna.

Recorded for Darbar Festival 2006
-Nina Burmi (vocal)
-Ramesh Mishra (sarangi)
-Sanju Sahai (tabla)
