Ahmad Jamal (born Frederick Russell Jones, July 2, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA) is an American jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and educator. He converted to Islam and changed his name to Ahmad Jamal in 1950.
For five decades, he has been one of the most successful small-group leaders.
In 2017 he received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
This unique concert was recorded live by AVRO Television at the North Sea Jazz Festival, The Hague, The Netherlands, 16 July 1989.
