Ginuwine Really Could've Been The G.O.A.T! Stunted Growth Music
My first musical experience with Ginuwine’s music was his second album in 99 and the single anxious. As a kid I didn’t quite understand the subject matter of the song, but immediately you could hear his music was was like no other and his ability to entertain on screen was of superstar quality. In diving into his background in music I learned Ginuwine was a bright upcoming rnb star on his second go round with success, going platinum first with his debut album that sold over 2 million copies behind the hit song “Pony”, an rnb classic that also enjoyed platinum success and was the #1 song in rnb in 1996. His second album released 3 years later but made it clear fans were waiting for the drop in that album becoming his best selling and highest peaking at the time. Another platinum album filled in 2001, solidifying Ginuwine wasn’t just a 1 or 2 trick Pony so to speak. He seemed here to stay, especially when he dropped his single “Differences”, my favorite Ginuwine song, and his second #1 rnb hit that peak at 4 on the billboard charts. His highest billboard peaking song and second career top 10. R&B superstar was written all over Ginuwine, but instead his music hit a decline throughout the 2000s and by the end of the decade he released his final top 10 album and was gone from the game.
