Mariah Carey, America the Beautiful

From King Louie's Video Vault: Mariah Carey burst onto the national stage with this performance of "America the Beautiful" at the 1990 NBA Finals. This has been posted before @ YouTube, but with lower quality. (I'd programmed my SVHS machine to record the game, then kept the tape because of the great performance by this then-unknown singer.)

Testament to Mariah's instant impact: pro athletes usually tune out the national anthem, but this rendition left John Salley of the Detroit Pistons shaking his head. OK, Coach Daly was apparently less impressed. :-)
