They say write about small moments - real people, real events, real feelings. Riley Green certainly started that way when he made his first splash a few years ago with "I Wish Grandpas Never Died." So specific, yet so universal, right? And the subject matters he alluded to in the song - honky-tonks with no closing times, coolers with endless Bud Light, chill Sunday afternoons on a creek bed - helped craft his persona to a new audience. Here's a modern guy who hasn't forgotten some of life's simple pleasures. That's a country vibe if there ever was one. The fact that he followed it with the super catchy "If It Wasn't For Trucks" ("how would I have gotten to Tennessee/if it wasn't for a bucket seat?") secured that vibe. Along the way Green proved that his music has plenty of punch. Country, sure, but with an affection for rock 'n' roll's impact.
