We started Clever Girl with a desire for a robotic dance song, after a lull of only writing ballads and mid tempo grooves. We were listening to The Bravery a lot in that time, so the repetitive downstroke nature of the guitars happened organically. Some songs just arrive and it's difficult to remember which path you took to get there, and that's what Clever Girl was. It more or less fell out of us one afternoon.

We were talking with Hannah Hall about how thankful we are to not be at a desk every day of our lives. She had been working on a documentary for the Federal Defenders office and thought that we could use the dilapidated office that was left after COVID for a shoot spot. Over time we naturally leaned into the juxtaposition of what it would be like for us to be in the office as ourselves.

The dark and visually stunning clip shows a dystopian vision of the new digital age, a network of addiction that is drawing us deeper into a fake world everyday. Martin Kames and Bernth Brodträger created a mesmerizing symbiosis of modern metal and electronic music with CueStack, the band states that they will unleash two more music videos this year to conclude their first cycle of releases.

The song deals with modern day issues like constant surveillance, social media addiction and the fake avatars we create for ourselves in the online world. As we spend more and more time on our phones and on social media platforms, we get distracted from what is actually happening around us – we are blind to the growing downward spiral that is starting to slowly consume our very existence. CueStack dare you to see beyond this veil of deception with this song, a message not to be taken lightly as this is a topic that affects us all on a very personal level. The essential trademark of CueStack is a very mechanical and industrial appearance which is also featured in the stage-design of their previous video clips "Alive" and "Dehumanize". An extensive professional lighting and special-fx rig is a key component of their go-big-or-go-home attitude.
