For Gracie Abrams, growing up means learning to look inwards instead of pointing fingers. It means understanding that we’ve been both the antagonist and the protagonist in conflict. Growing up is recognizing that most honest songs come from the hardest-won perspective.

Gracie sits down with her friend and fellow songwriter Olivia Rodrigo to talk about her new album: a record two years in the making, built on tour buses, and finished in studios in London and New York. Gracie describes Daughter from Hell as more existential than diaristic. It’s less about relitigating the past, but rather understanding it with empathy and maturity.
