In May the beatles went to abbey road to record the first album they were going to release under their new company apple. The project at that time seemed simple, John and Paul had about thirty songs written almost all in india. George for his part, more than on other albums, took seriously his role in the band as the third songwriter, and Ringo also wrote his first song.

With so much material at hand, it was decided to make a double album, a format widely used for classical music but absolutely innovative in popular music, but the new album and his illusions were spoiled from the first day when Lennon entered the studio with a woman next to him, breaking all the studio rules. Also, McCartney developed an almost sick perfectionist attitude that collapsed his partners. Harrison showed more and more apathy to continue working with two beatles who never ended up taking him seriously, and tired too Ringo left the band. And with an apple that was rotting... the best band on the planet worked and sounded like no other.

Lyrics:
Summertime
Summertime
Summertime blue
You took all my lovin

Summertime
Summertime
It’s true
I’m still thinking of you

Left you in a daydream
Now you’re washing over me

Summertime
Summertime
Summertime blue

Thought I was feeling good
I was on a roll
Didn’t let it show
But I was falling for you
Splashing, laughing, loving
Just like a fool
Was there an undertow
When I pulled you close?

And now I’m wondering
(Are) your castles crumbling too?
Ooh, ooh

Summertime
Summertime
Summertime blue
You took all my lovin’

Summertime
Summertime
It’s true
I’m still thinking of you

Left you in a daydream
Now you’re washing over me

Summertime
Summertime
Summertime blue

Do you feel it too?

Still see the sunlight
Dancing off your hair
But I didn’t dare
Let you catch me

Dreaming
My mind was
Running wild
In the heat of your smile
Now it’s been a while
Since I heard from you

And now I’m wondering
Were you just passing through?
Oh ohhh

Summertime
Summertime
Summertime Blue
You took all my lovin’

Summertime
Summertime
Summertime
It’s true
I’m still thinking of you

Left you in a daydream
Now you’re washing over me

Summertime
Summertime
Summertime Blue

Yeah I feel it too

Summertime
Summertime
Summertime it’s true
I’m still thinking of you

Left you in a daydream
Now you’re washing over me

Summertime
Summertime
Summertime blue

Blue

All because of you

Lyrics:

Thoughts, drowning in, you can’t fight them
Look I’m ready now - just slow them somehow
Wrongs, reckonings, you can’t right them
Just writing that down - felt stupid till now...

While I’m never gonna’ cross that feeling
And it’s never gonna’ fade away - fight or flight
If there’s logic in your thought, your reasoning
Dreams stay out of sight. Let it be

Maybe the place where I belong is with the ones that still fight
Or is it better we just close our eyes - pretend that they’re right?
All of us kill/killing time - when that's all that they want
Just realise that it's never gonna’ stop

Never gonna’ stop...

Hope, it’s a sin, with past judgement
They settle you down, god jury and crown
Fear, creeping in - try to fight it
One sleight of the hand, distraction - command...

While I’m never gonna’ cross that feeling
And it's never gonna’ fade away - fight or flight
If there’s logic in your thought, your reasoning
Dreams stay out of sight. Let it be

Maybe the place where I belong is with the ones that still fight
Or is it better we just close our eyes - pretend that they’re right?
All of us kill/killing time - when that's all that they want
Just realise that it's never gonna’ stop

Bliss, ignorance isn’t it most of the time
Breeds control, lies & bribes, this new world...
stands idly by, watching this tragedy close
Skin blood bones, blended in a monochrome
Bliss, ignorance isn’t it most of the time
Missing skin and chrome - merging into one...

Maybe the place where I belong is with the ones that still fight
Or is it better we just close our eyes - pretend that they’re right?
All of us kill/killing time - when that's all that they want
Just realise that it's never gonna’ stop

Never gonna’ stop...

LYRICS
Lend me the world, the cracks in the pavement
diamonds and pearls, the damned we've forsaken
fallen like the ones here before, but I'm not destined to fade
I sympathize, some days hear their cries, melodies
why am I not afraid?

Godlike, take away the empathy
past life, nothing here for you to see
give me something to feel

spare me now, I've seen everything
I've seen what I need to see
spare me now, just hold your beliefs
just play on repeat for me

fucking teach them
but they don't wanna be free
sickness connects every thread
I sympathize, some days hear their cries, melodies
why am I not afraid?

Lend me the world, the cracks in the pavement
diamonds and pearls, the damned we've forsaken

spare me now, I've seen everything
I've seen what I need to see
spare me now, just hold your beliefs
just play on repeat for me

living a dream, follow their lead
maybe you'll die for something
living a dream, like a disease
all that you know is suffering

all that you know, is suffering
pray that you die, you die for something

time slips away, you die with nothing
make your mistakes, we're all disgusting
It's worth the pain

On 18th July 1996, two days after he had performed a full birthday concert for the Sultan in Brunei, Michael Jackson came to South Afrika. Michael landed in Johannesburg, attended the 78th birthday celebration of back then South African president Nelson Mandela and later laid a wreath at a memorial in the black township of Soweto. On 19th July, Michael gave a speech in Sun City to announce the South African dates of the HIStory Tour in 1997. Before he left the country on 20th July 1996, Michael gave a short press conference together with Nelson Mandela in Pretoria.

A bit more complete transcript of Michael's speech in Sun City (thanks to @deserveMjj at Facebook):
Michael Jackson: "We are behaving like people without compassion and love for the most vulnerable section of society. The children of the universe are without a spokesperson, they are voiceless. We are all touched by the atrocities committed against children: sexual, physical abuse, child slave labor, educational neglect. We feel ashamed, Angry, Appalled. But there is no action No action.", Michael declares. At the press conference also, he gives an emotional discourse to the people of South Africa: “First, I would like to say, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, you have no idea how happy and honored I am to be here in South Africa. The people here have been so kind to me their love, their generosity, the hospitality has been overwhelming. I mean, I’m saying this from the bottom of my heart, ‘cause I really mean it. And I’m not wearing these glasses to be Mr. Cool, I wear these glasses because they are a facade, so you won’t have to see my tears ... [voice choking with emotions] ... I’m so happy to be here and you all have been so wonderful to me and I want to thank you so much and I thank you for coming to Sun City. I would like to take this opportunity to thank president Nelson Mandela and the wonderful people of South Africa for this gracious, really gracious welcome to your wonderful country. I just love it. I love it so much, I’m looking for a house to buy here [laughs]… I would like to thank the wonderful wonderful (inaudible) and the staff and its hospitality and hosting this conference. And I’m sorry I was not able to play South Africa dates previously, because I was so much looking forward to coming here. But now I am really excited about bringing the HIStory Tour – a brand new show, the HIStory Tour to South Africa. We are in negotiations right now, with promoters now and, but we’re playing South Africa in mid January 1997, in Capetown, in Durban and Johannesburg. My promoter, Mr. Marcel Avram is here today to announce additional dates and answer any questions you may have regarding the HIStory World Tour. I love you from the bottom of my heart and I thank you so much for your wonderful wonderful opportunity. Thank you.”

Lyrics:
Unbroken gaze, infatuated with the nearing tribunal of penance
Fixating on the aether, looking for an answer
What if there's nothing beyond the endless seas
No abode of the blessed;
a forgotten elysium
Where time stands still
We preach and pray for days beyond; the mortal coil is fading
The etheric realm lies frozen beneath my sinking feet

Are you whole?
Fading away with no light left to find

Can I pull the moon close
Can I draw the night out,
Closer can I draw near nights asleep
Pull the moon close
Can I draw the night out, closer
Please leave me in this dream, soundly adrift

My gaze breaks
Falling into the aether
A severed world of empty colours
a shattered veil
Bereft of all that's sacred
Incessant decay
In the gardens of time

Endless I suffer crises of faith
Devoid of serenity
Staring into your eyes

Your light is fading out
Slowly falling through the abyssal depth
And the only way out is through
Drifting away to a timeless place
I hope you find a way to make yourself whole again

As you fade away

Can I pull the moon close
Can I draw the night out, closer
Can I draw near; nights asleep
Pull the moon close
Can I draw the night out, closer
Please leave me in this dream, soundly adrift

Like a whispering gasp for air
In these hallowed halls I’m waiting for heaven's embrace
