'Nasty Girl' is written by Prince. He gave the song to his protégé girl group Vanity 6 with leadsinger Vanity (real name Denise Katrina Matthews, January 4, 1959 – February 15, 2016). The other singers were Brenda Bennett and Susan Moonsie.
It was released on 24 September 1982. The group visited Holland in October 1982. The Toppop recording was first broadcast on 30 October 1982. It reached #5 in the Dutch Top 40 and it hit number one on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart for four weeks in November 1982.
