Huntington High school would be the setting for the first Avenged record. Zacky Vengeance and M. Shadows had basically written the first album here. The Rev also spent some time at the same school but appeared to have a slightly different childhood to others around him.

Jimmy says during his teenage years he spent a lot of his time either sleeping in his car or sleeping in the laundromat at work. He was also kicked off the high-school basketball team, a sport he and M. Shadows had been playing together since the age of ten. Jimmy was without a disruptive kid, in school he would repeatedly get sent to the principal's office for making everyone laugh too much, and outside of school, he and Matt would sneak out of their houses at night and terrorise the neighbourhood. Unbeknownst to their parents.

Although Huntington Beach may have seemed like an idyllic tourist trap, Zacky Vengeance would often recount how it was a mix between, Rich people, poor people, skaters, punk rockers, surfers and even gang members.

Over the years, Motörhead would consist of what we can now call two classic line-ups. Lemmy would originally work with guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox before being quickly replaced by Phil Taylor, better known as Philthy Animal and Fast Eddie Clarke. From 1975 and 1976 respectively.

The next classic line-up would be solidified between the years of 1984 and 1992, with Phil Cambell, Mikkey Dee and Michael "Würzel" Burston, although Wurzel would part ways with the group in 1995 leaving Lemmy, Mikkey and Phil as the last line-up that would continue until 2015.

When Motörhead formed in 1975, Rock music was very much in its early stages, although the early 70s did see the likes of Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, T-Rex, Alice Cooper and Jimmy Hendrix topping the charts so it was certainly on the public radar.

It’s fair to say the group have experienced their fair share of trauma, drama and sadly, death. The 1975 - Oh Caroline | Vevo Official Live Performance

The 1975 don’t stand still. Their vision is broad, and every time they drop a new album, that vision widens a little bit further. Certainly that’s the case with ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language,’ the Brit outfit’s fifth studio affair and a radiant follow-up to 2020’s ‘Notes On A Conditional Form.’ But not “radiant” in a glimmering way, like a bauble that shines a bit too much. “Radiant” as in real. A sense of verité streaks through “All I Need To Hear” and “I’m In Love With You” – with Jack Antonoff, Matty Healy, and drummer George Daniel guiding the way the music was captured, it sounds like the band is playing them live. And that’s attractive. So we had Team Healy, which also features guitarist Adam Hann and bassist Ross MacDonald, celebrate their latest victory by burning through some of their new tunes for our Official Live Performances program. First up? “Oh Caroline.” Everything is well measured on this one, ‘cept for when Matty pours his heart out at the end. Stay tuned, more coming.
