SteffLon Don Gets open and Real about Sidhu Moose Wala, Dutchavelli, Burna Boy & Debut album Island 54

Stefflon Don deelt openhartig over haar leven.

English:

Stefflon Don is really a versatile artist and a boss, because she raps, sings, and runs her own business. She was born in Birmingham, lived in Rotterdam for a while, and now lives in London. Her love for music started young, and even when she was little, she worked with the Dutch artist Unique.

Recently, she released a new album, "Island 54," which is full of influences from Jamaica and Africa. She has done super cool collaborations with artists like Buju Banton and Sidhu Moose Wala, and especially that song "Dilemma" is special because she recorded it with Wala before his tragic passing.

Stefflon Don talks openly about her life. She became a mother to her son Jalen at 17, and despite her busy life as an artist, she always ensures she is there for him. Her time in Rotterdam was sometimes tough, but music has always been a constant factor in her life.

She absolutely loves Lil' Kim and Lauryn Hill, and says that authenticity and self-expression are super important in the music industry. She hasn’t always had it easy, and you can hear that in her songs like "We Build" and "Brothers POV."

In short, Stefflon Don is a multi-talented powerhouse. She has an impressive personal story that she effortlessly weaves into her music, creating a deep connection with her fans.

I feel like a waste right now
Trying just to not freak out
But I think I’m losing count
Of all the days I’m not okay
But I think it’s all my fault
I can feel it in my throat
So maybe I should sell my soul
But I don’t wanna lose it all

I just need someone to stop the bleeding
I’m struggling to keep myself awake
Don’t let it bury me
And I’m hanging on a ledge that’s breaking
If I look down I might just slip away
And let it bury me

And I don’t wanna hate myself
But living really hurts like hell
And I don’t like to ask for help
Cause all the pain just feels the same when I’m by myself
I feel like somebody else
I can’t keep holding on to what I felt when I lost myself
I’m not well, and I keep pleading

I just need someone to stop the bleeding
I’m struggling to keep myself awake
Don’t let it bury me
And I’m hanging on a ledge that’s breaking
If I look down I might just slip away
And let it bury me

I’m falling apart but no one knows
Cause I can’t let them get close
And I can’t sound the alarm
I’ll leave myself exposed
So where do I go when I feel breathless
And nowhere feels like home
If I die in your arms
At least I’m not alone

I just need someone to stop the bleeding
I’m struggling to keep myself awake
Don’t let it bury me
And I’m hanging on a ledge that’s breaking
If I look down I might just slip away
And let it bury me
Don’t let it bury me
Don’t let it bury me
And I’m hanging on a ledge that’s breaking
If I look down I might just slip away
And let it bury me

Lyrics:
Please come and save me

I can't help but feel so vulnerable inside,
I am so Helpless, and everything's unnervingly wide.
It seems like my achievements have all disappeared
Just a drop in the ocean filled with all of my tears
I can't escape
I fell again

I can't escape
Forever caught in a vicious cycle, I see no end
Please come and save me

Where is the purpose, the meaning I crave?
I feel like I'm lost in an unmarked grave
No light in the tunnel, no end to this pain
Just endless gray skies and unending rain

I can't escape
Forever caught in a vicious cycle, I see no end
Please come and save me
I fell again
Trapped in the thorns of all the flowers I once've reached
Please come and save me

I am no one
Without a sight
Without desires
Without a life

I can't escape

I can't escape
Forever caught in a vicious cycle, I see no end

I can't escape
Forever caught in a vicious cycle, I see no end
Please come and save me
I fell again
Trapped in the thorns of all the flowers I once've reached
Please come and save me

Open your eyes.
Look to the skies.
This is the day that your innocence dies.
Rivers will rise.
Deafening cries.
Welcome to hell it’s the night that you meet your demise.

You’ve been trapped inside this room.
Will these walls become your tomb?
Flickering of fluorescent lights.
From the depths no screams are heard.
Hanging life from the power lines.
Lost in the search.

Outlive. Outlast.
The nightmare from the terror of the past.
Restart. Restore.
You can’t hide from the horror anymore.

Welcome to Hell:
a cathedral filled with mud,
has been baptized by the flood.
Festering in a caustic swamp,
fetid fumes now fill the air.
Panic dropped like an atom bomb.
Death and despair.

Lyrics:

To the flowers.

I’m staring out myself,
Scared of all I can’t feel
And I’m dancing on the edge,
Punching at the doorbell.
Try not to wake the neighbours now.

We’re all high as the gods
And as low as the demons but she’s alone.

I’m saving it for best,
Taking all the sentiment
And starting at the end,
Pain in single measures.
Try not to wake the neighbours now.

We’re all high as the gods,
And as low as the demons but she’s alone.

We’re all going
Down, down, down,
Down, down, down.
We’re all going
Down, down, down to the flowers.

I miss the optimist who told me I need nothing,
Who said the consequence was equal to the moment.
I wish for the start while I pray for the end.
Let’s take it all for granted, I know nothing’s gonna change at all.

I miss the optimist who told me I need nothing,
Who said the consequence was equal to the moment.
It’s closing time when they turn up the lights.
Let’s take it all for granted, I know nothing’s gonna change at all.
It’s too late, nothings gonna change at all.
Nothing gonna change at all.

Thought I knew
Thought I knew
Just what you wanted
And took a part in
Just to pass it by

Then I grew
Then I grew
And still you doubted
The people shouted
And left me out to die

So then I give you what you want
Can I take a little more for myself
Just a little more

Don’t look back
Cause we’ve got better days ahead
Don’t offer me
To second gear
Don’t worry about it

We made it
So thank you for the patience
A sacrifice, don’t pass us by
Don’t worry about it

Thought you knew
Thought you knew
This is who I am
I’m just a man
And we all make mistakes sometimes

So I guess if we’re keeping score
Then you could turn around and walk right out the door
Walk right out the door

Oh, you would’ve known
If you keep your nose to the floor

Don’t look back
Cause we’ve got better days ahead
Don’t offer me
To second gear
Don’t worry about it

We made it
So thank you for the patience
A sacrifice, don’t pass us by
Don’t worry about it

So thank you for the patience
We’re not second best
Put us to the test
Don’t worry about it

So thank you for the patience
A sacrifice, don’t pass you by
Don’t worry about it

Don’t look back
Cause we’ve got better days ahead
Going up from here
Second gear
Worry about it
So thank you for the patience
A sacrifice, don’t pass us by
Don’t worry about it

Tickets for our UK headline tour are on sale now! https://palewaves.co.uk/live/

Lyrics

Oh no it didn’t take much convincing
Cause I was doing more feeling than thinking
And I just met your brother
The start of the summer
He warned me about you
We drank in the pouring rain
One glass of wine and somehow you changed

When I left you Glasgow
I remember crying all the way home
Yeah I had to go and get myself out of there
Oh cause there was nothing left, nothing left
For us to repair

I love the city cos it’s all or nothing
It’s always cold but it’s oh so loving
You also were born that way
That’s the trouble you face
You were losing your balance
And I had to run away
And I wondered if it was a mistake

When I left you Glasgow
I remember crying all the way home
Yeah I had to go and get myself out of there
Oh cause there was nothing left, nothing left
For us to repair

Lyrics
I pull you into the twilight
I never let you escape
I need you more than I need anything

I promise you will be alright
Never be afraid
As long I’m with you you don’t have to fear

I don’t wanna dance alone
So I keep you in my misery
Never let you go cause I
Am so addicted to your company

Don’t leave me now
Don’t let me drown
I don’t wanna dance alone
So I keep you in my misery

I've shown you everything
The deepest part of my soul
Make sure you’re never coming home again

All alone in the darkness
I never had anyone
You are my cure but it will be your end

I don’t wanna dance alone
So I keep you in my misery
Never let you go cause I
Am so addicted to your company

Don’t leave me now
Don’t let me drown
I don’t wanna dance alone
So I keep you in my misery

Dance all night

All Night
Dance all night

I don’t wanna dance alone
So I keep you in my misery
Never let you go cause I
Am so addicted to your company

Don’t leave me now
Don’t let me drown
I don’t wanna dance alone
So I keep you in my misery

Lyrics:
Am I still living like the ghost of somebody else?
A prisoner in my skin,
I'm so haunted by the image I see of myself,
conforming under the pressure

I've been holding on for far too long,
I'm facing my demons yet I'm hating myself,
It's so hard to admit when we need help,
detached from reality, we lie to ourselves
It's so hard to admit when we need help
So compromised and vulnerable to a disease that tears at the seams,
invisible to the eye, God, I'm forever falling behind

Why am I still living like the ghost of somebody else?
A prisoner in my skin, I'm so haunted by the image I see of myself,
conforming under the pressure
We are helpless alone, staying isolated,
We are helpless alone,
This pride will become the death of me

My masculinity over my mental health,
Suppressed emotions step into my personal hell
Consumed by the tide, I'm grasping for a lifeline
We all struggle to keep our pride in line
The warning signs aren't always crystal clear
It's not easy putting ourselves together down here

Reach my hands towards the surface,
searching for hope when I don't deserve it

Why am I still living like the ghost of somebody else?
A prisoner in my skin, I'm so haunted by the image I see of myself,
conforming under the pressure
We are helpless alone, staying isolated,
We are helpless alone,
This pride will become the death of me

Defeated in the wake, Lord, I'm swallowed whole
I accept my mistakes, I surrender control
Beneath the waves, God, I see your face
Wash over me and renew my faith
I will find solace, fulfill your promise, I am free
