Amy Winehouse gehört zum sogenannten Club 27. Alle Mitglieder dieses Clubs sind Künstlerinnen und Künstler, die mit nur 27 Jahren gestorben sind – meist in Verbindung mit Drogen oder Alkohol: Gitarrist Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana-Sänger Kurt Cobain oder eben auch die Soul-Sängerin. Am 23. Juli 2011 wurde sie in London tot aufgefunden.

Von Anfang an war uns klar, dass Amy Winehouse irgendwann einmal zu den ganzen Popstars gehören wird – und holten sie am 18. September 2004 zum SWR3 New Pop ins Theater Baden-Baden. Es war einer der ersten Live-Auftritt von Amy Winehouse überhaupt, der mitgeschnitten wurde. In ihrem kurzen Leben veröffentlichte Amy Winehouse nur zwei Alben: Ihr Hit-Album Back To Black von 2006, mit Songs Rehab oder Valerie (auf der Deluxe-Version). Und ihr Debüt-Album Frank von 2003, das sie bei ihrem Auftritt beim SWR3 New Pop ein Jahr später zusammen mit ihrer Band vorstellte.

"Damals war Amy Winehouse noch ein ungeschliffener Rohdiamant und live sehr nervös. Während des ganzen Konzertes zupfte sie ihr enges Kleid mal nach oben, mal nach unten. Aber ihre Stimme war damals schon grandios und mit dem Album „Back To Black“ wurde sie zwei Jahre später zum Superstar."
