About Kes:
Of the many musical acts which call Trinidad & Tobago home, perhaps none embody its polyglot culture more than KES, the eclectic soca outfit behind some of modern Caribbean music’s most indelible anthems. Celebrated for Carnival hits (“Wotless,” “Savannah Grass”) and island pop jams (“Tuesday on the Rocks,” “Endless Summer”), the band has brought Trinidad to the world, sharing stages with the likes of Will Smith, Major Lazer and John Legend. For the group — charismatic singer Kees Dieffenthaler (aka KES) and his brothers Jon (guitar) and Hans (drums), along with childhood friend, Riad Boochoon (bass) —blending soca, pop, rock, reggae, calypso, dancehall and afrobeats together is one part of their greater calling: To spread good vibes. The last three years have proven to be the most successful in the band’s decade-plus-run. “Hello,” a fusion of afrobeats and soca originally released in 2017, continues to reach new audiences over two years after its release. With over 40 million plays on YouTube alone, it is one of the most streamed soca songs of all time. Tia Gostelow - I'm Getting Bored of This (Official Music Video)

I’m Getting Bored of This was the last song that was written for my album, Head Noise, and ended up being the catalyst for naming the album Head Noise. I wanted to do one last writing session with my friend Matt McGuffie before I went into the studio to record to see if I could squeeze out one more song. I still felt like I had more to say on the record, I trust Matt and we work really well together as a songwriting team so I thought we should try our luck.

I drove down to the Gold Coast to Matt’s house and we started writing the song in the little studio in his garage. We were just catching up and talking about life and we ended up on the topic of anxiety after drinking and how it can affect so many aspects of your day to day life. I’m someone that gets horrible hangxiety after a night out, I can’t sleep the next day because my mind is racing thinking about things I could have said or done, it affects my mental clarity when I’m working during the week and I just don’t feel myself for a few days.

The cycle of drinking on a weekend and then feeling off all week, coming good again by Friday and then doing it all over again can be easy to fall into and I think I’ve learnt what my body physically and mentally can and can’t deal with. Don’t get me wrong I love having a drink with my friends and going out but I’m learning to take care of myself a little more.

I LOVE this song so much and I instantly knew that the album was completed when we finished writing it. It really was the missing piece of the puzzle.
