Lyrics

I hate waking up alone
Call me when you’re heading home
I’ve got things I need to say
That I can’t say to you over the telephone

4/5 glasses all alone
Boys and girls just come and go
Haven’t seen you for a minute
I don’t like it not at all

Ohhhhh
One thing that I know
Is As hard as I try
I can’t face the thought
Of you not being in my life
Regardless

Regardless of the tears
I cried for you today
Regardless of the words
You think but never say
You’re always on my mind somehow
Whether we’re up or down
Regardless
Regardless

Ohhh
Regard la la la la
La la la la la la

Ohhh
Regard la la la la
La la la la la la

No this house is not a home
When I’m sleeping all alone
I’m yours to have
but I’m on hold
And I can’t touch you through
The phone mmm
Even when you treat me cold
I still got your t shirt on
I haven’t seen you for a minute
And I don’t like it not all

Ohhhhh
One thing that I know
Oooooh
As hard as I try
I can’t face the thought
Of you not being in my life

Regardless of the tears
I cried for you today
Regardless of the words
You think but never say
You’re always in my mind somehow
Whether we’re up or down
Regardless
Regardless

Baby
why what you wanna make a girl
Make a girl feel so crazy
The things that you do to me ooh
It’s as if you don’t rate me ah
baby don’t play me ah
this ain’t no game to me ahhhh

Regardless of the tears
I cried for you today
Regardless of the words
You think but never say
You’re always in my mind somehow
Whether we’re up or down
Regardless

About:
We present to you one of the sensations of recent years from the United Kingdom. Captured on the Nancy Jazz Pulsations main stage during the 2022 edition, Kokoroko can finally live up to their potential.

The young Anglo-Nigerian collective based in London has just released its 1st album after having taken the time to perfect their music on stage for several years. An artistic approach that is not devoid of common sense at a time when technological means of recording and broadcasting make it possible to mass-produce music.

The objective of this brilliant septet is the afrobeat of their ancestors, but not only that. The brassy riffs directly inherited from a time when Fela Kuti was the big boss pair perfectly with high-flying jazz. Inspired instrumentals and soloists, electrifying vocals, soul or funk reflections depending on the mood, seeing the responsiveness of a seemingly eclectic audience as convinced by Tobi Adenaike's sharp guitar playing as by the poly-rhythmic ping-pong of the percussionist and drummer, we suddenly regret not having taken the trip to Lorraine last fall.

About:
A trumpet player, singer and jazz composer, Andrea Motis was a revelation at the 2012 Barcelona Jazz Festival, at only 17 years old in her home city, where she was brought on stage by Quincy Jones. Here is Andrea Motis and her quintet at the Moods Club in Zurich, in 2019.

With her gentle contralto voice – which has often drawn comparisons with Norah Jones – she soothes and captivates us with her impeccable accuracy and excellent vocal technique. With eight albums under her belt, Andrea Motis is well on her way to a long and dazzling career. Her quintet is elegantly composed of Josep Traver on guitar, Ignasi Terraza on piano, Esteve Pi on drums and Joan Chamorro, who was once her teacher at the conservatory, on double bass.

They set a good precedent early doors by kicking off with a bit of Nat King Cole. Then, the young singer proceeded to bring jazz standards back to life with her own brand of elegance and simplicity. She also unveiled a few tracks from her most recent album that would be released a few weeks after this concert took place: Do Outro Lado Do Azul on Verve Records.

Lyrics:
In a room full of dimes you would be 100 dollars
If being fine was a crime, girl, they’d lock your lil’ fine ass up in a tower
The way you move like you do
Ooh it’s like you do it for a livin’
Do a lil’ spin, do it again – sshhiiiii
look like you playin’ for the win, OH BABY

I’m trynna roll, I’m trynna ride
I’m trynna float, I’m trynna glide
No no, don’t be shy, just take my hand and hold on tight

Oh, skate to me baby
Skate
Slide your way on over
Slide your way on over
Skate to me baby
Skate
I wanna get to know ya
I wanna get to know ya

Got your hair in the wind and your skin glistening
I can smell your sweet perfume
Mmmm, ya smell better than a barbecue
Oh, superstar is what you are
I’m your biggest fan
if you’re lookin’ for a man, suga, here I am

I’m trynna roll, I’m trynna ride
I’m trynna float, I’m trynna glide
No no, don’t be shy, just take my hand and hold on tight!

Oh, skate to me baby
Skate
Slide your way on over
Slide your way on over
Skate to me baby
Skate
I wanna get to know ya
I wanna get to know ya

I never fall but tonight you got me falling for you, and only you, YOU
I’m reaching out in hopes that you reach for me too, girl, let’s groove

Girl, you got me singing ooooooohhhh
My oh my
My oh my
My oh my
My oh my

Oh, skate to me baby
Skate
Slide your way on over
Slide your way on over
Skate to me baby
Skate
I wanna get to know ya
I wanna get to know ya

Lyrics:
I’m done with living in places where I recognise
Too many faces I’d rather leave behind
People who would see me in the street and not say ‘hi’
But then they see some success, so they call me
Tell me that they impressed, they want a part of it
Huh, you want a part of it?
Well, I don’t want your number or your company
That’s why I’m gon’ be the first one to leave your party for the club
Bottle full of bub
That’s because you made a mess and it cannot be undone
I’m into making friends, I ain’t into making up
You can take your hugs, you can take it
But don’t come find me in the club

Bottle full of bub
Look babies you made a mess again, it can’t be undone
I’m into making M’s, I ain’t into making up
You can take your hugs, you can take your love
You can’t pick and choose when you’re on my side
Leave through the lows and try stay for the highs
Love to the people who are steady in my life
And you are not them beg friend, no
Real ones don’t come and go like trend, no
Pick me up and drop me off like rental
You decided before that you ain’t a part of it
That’s why I’m gon’ be the first one to leave your party for the club
Bottle full of bub
That’s because you made a mess and it cannot be undone
I’m into making friends, I ain’t into making up
You can take your hugs, you can take it
But don’t come find me in the club
Bottle full of bub
Look babies you made a mess again, it can’t be undone
I’m into making M’s, I ain’t into making up
You can take your hugs, you can take your love
You can take it away
Please don’t kill my buzz
Baby please don’t kill my buzz
Leave you, leave you
I don’t believe you
No matter what you say, that don’t make us equal
Treat you, treat you
I never mistreated you
No matter how you say it, that don’t make us equal
Leave you, leave you
I don’t believe you
No matter what you say, there ain’t ever gonna be a sequel
That means you escape all your evil
So don’t come find me in the club
Bottle full of bub
That’s because you made a mess and it cannot be undone
I’m into making friends, I ain’t into making up
You can take your hugs, you can take it
But don’t come find me in the club
Bottle full of bub
Look babies you made a mess again, it can’t be undone

I’m into making M’s, I ain’t into making up
You can take your hugs, you can take your love
