A distinctive feature of this composition is acoustic Japanese instruments, with which I experimented a bit here. I also added some flute sounds and various voices. The instruments sound infrequent and sometimes abstract, but nevertheless I hope they create the atmosphere of a Japanese town :)

About 2 months ago while I was scrolling through TikTok, I stumbled upon THE DON Madfunz, a guy from South Africa with amazing energy. His taste in music grabbed my attention, but it was his dancing, smile and story that really hooked me.

The Don would walk 9 miles to work every single day despite the weather or his personal safety… he risked it all for his family… and dreamed one day of his very slow walk being over and finally being able to own a car for himself so he can provide for his family

When I was thinking about the “HEALING” music video, I couldn’t get Don out of my head... I knew I had to get him involved… so I hit up my friend, and director, Theo Skudra, and we decided to make a video following a day in Don’s life.

We filmed in Dududu, a rural area about an hour outside of Durban. We captured Don's everyday life – the simple joys, the positivity, and the resilience.

While I couldn’t be there, the best part of this whole process was at the end when I surprised Don with a car. Seeing his reaction was priceless. It was one of his dreams to own a car, and knowing I could help make that happen was incredible.

With this video, I wanted to show that Don’s positive attitude and joyful spirit are something we can all learn from, no matter what we’re going through. His story is a reminder that even when life gets tough, you can still find reasons to smile. I hope this video touches your hearts like it did mine.

My guest this week is none other than Mario Duplantier of French metal titans GOJIRA. One of my favourite bands and drummers of all time, he spilled insane and humble knowledge about everything it takes to get to his level as a musician. We caught up before their INSANE show in support of their latest album Fortitude to talk about everything from drums and practicing to jamming with James Hetfield and stage fright. It was an inspirational chat and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

This week on Angie Martinez IRL Podcast, one of the best selling Latin artists of all time, J Balvin joins Angie for conversation on spirituality, battling depression, living out his purpose, and finding balance in success. In his life, it’s Jose vs. Balvin.

In real life, he lives by the motto “The day you think you are a star, you stop shining” a gem from his mother, the person he is most grateful for in his life. To Balvin, being grateful and loyal are the most important things in life.

Their conversation on superpowers reveals that J Balvin has unmatched discipline, finds joy in problem solving, and has a hustler mentality that took him from an independent artist in Colombia to Genesis world book record breaking success.

He’s a dad now and lets us in on how it’s changed him for the better, made him aware of how fears can be generational, and how important it is to stay in good health. Balvin doesn't believe money and fame are not indicators of success, it’s the balance of family, health, mental and inner peace that equal real success.

Michael Jackson & Madonna will always be linked due to their stature as pop superstars of the 1980s. The rivals sort to bond together with a musical collaboration for Michael's 'Dangerous' album. However, after a date at the Academy Awards, the two fell out in the press and the single never materialised.

This is the music icons relationship according to Madonna's own account, with some less than flattening insights from Michael.

Bootsy's Rubber Band - I'd Rather Be With You (Live 1976)

This funktastic video clip is from the live performance "Bootsy's Rubber Band - Stretchin' Out Live 1976" in Houston, TX at The Summit on October 31st, 1976

Funk on Funkateers!!

Thank you kindly and much love!!

This song was written by Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange around a piece of film music by composer Michael Kamen. This trio of songwriters, went on to have 3 number one records during the 1990's. Sadly Kamen died of multiple sclerosis in 2003, Adams says "Losing Michael was like losing a brother, and I think of him every time I sing this song."
This video was filmed in Miami, Florida 1992 and directed by Andy Morahan.

Lyric:

Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Look into my heart - you will FIND
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it ALL I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way

Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - Ya I'd die for you

Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
