KEY! Interview | '777,' ‘Meaningful Music,’ Influence, Kenny Beats, Cozy Tapes & More! Hotney 2 Streams • 3 years ago

#OGM #OurGenerationMusic #KEY

From SoundCloud era stars like Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert to TyFontaine and other rising trendsetters, KEY!‘s cultural impact is felt amongst many generations. His influential album ‘777’ — produced by Kenny Beats — is not only considered to be the Atlanta native’s magnum opus, but has altered the landscape of hip-hop at its core. Even KEY! acknowledges that he hears his cadences, flows and production style within rap's current wave, but it’s always love from the iconic producer-rapper. He’s born and bred ATL, showing appreciation to bubbling movers and shakers like Bear1Boss and Tony Shhnow, who KEY! refers to as the “future Curren$y of Atlanta.”

Whether he’s tapped into his “Keyonce” or “Keyangelo” alter egos, KEY!’s colorful personality speaks to his eclectic taste and desire to craft more “meaningful music” down the line, as well as take up a role as an executive. “I want to evolve my music with my life,” he told OGM host Hakeem Rowe. “I want to executive produce more than I want to sign artists... I was once the headache, and I want to show others how to own their headache.” Touting pipelined projects with the prolific DJ Mark B and his idol DotDaGenius in his vault, KEY! and Keem chopped it up for a rare conversation, speaking on KEY!’s influence in the game, ‘777,’ new music, Kenny Beats, Atlanta and so much more in this Our Generation Music exclusive interview.

Arkells - Laundry Pile (Official Music Video) Hotney 2 Streams • 3 years ago

Directed by: Mark Myers
From the forthcoming album "Laundry Pile" out September 21st.

"LAUNDRY PILE" LYRICS:

I wanna pull you close to me in the morning
Tell me about your dreams before you forget
When I’m with you the whole world gets so quiet
I don’t need nothing else

It’s ok if your mind begins to wander
It’s ok if you’re not always at your best
Don’t believe that anything’s for certain
I don’t believe we’ve turned the lights off yet

I already love the parts you don’t like in yourself
We don’t need some fancy hotel
You’re home from the bar, do you need a friend?
Laundry pile sitting at the end of the bed

Could have the world, but now you’re looking at me
I’ve been scared of what you might see
You’re home from the bar, do you need a friend?
I could help you put the sheets back on the bed

There’s a million places that I’d die to see you
Walking west on a beach around sunset
I think of you every time the plane gets bumpy
I see you laughing saying "deep breaths"

You said you don’t like your face in any photos
And can you trust the voice inside your head?
We both know my ideas are mostly stupid
I don’t believe we’ve turned the lights off yet

I already love the parts you don’t like in yourself
We don’t need some fancy hotel
You’re home from the bar, do you need a friend?
Laundry pile sitting at the end of the bed

Could have the world, but now you’re looking at me
I’ve been scared of what you might see
You’re home from the bar, do you need a friend?
I could help you put the sheets back on the bed

LYRICS

You look like fun to me
You look a little like somebody I know
And I can tell you how this ends
I’ll be in your head all weekend

Shivers and butterflies
I get the shivers when I look into your eyes
And I can tell that you’re all in
‘Cause I can hear your heart beating
Padam Padam

Padam Padam
I hear it and I know
Padam Padam
I know you wanna take me home
Padam
And get to know me close
Padam Padam
When your heart goes
Padam Padam
I hear it and I know
Padam Padam
I know you wanna take me home
Padam
And take off all my clothes
Padam Padam
When your heart goes
Padam

This place is crowding up
I think it’s time for you to take me out this club
And we don’t need to use our words
Wanna see what’s underneath that t-shirt
Shivers and cold champagne
I get the shivers every time you say my name
And I can tell that you’re all in
‘Cause I can hear your heart beating

Padam Padam
I hear it and I know
Padam Padam
I know you wanna take me home
Padam
And get to know me close
Padam Padam
When your heart goes
Padam Padam
I hear it and I know
Padam Padam
I know you wanna take me home
Padam
And take off all my clothes
Padam Padam
When your heart goes
Padam
