Talib Kweli & Faith Evans On Biggie, Lil Kim, Puff, 'Love Like This,' Her Son | People Hotney 3 Streams • 4 years ago

In this episode of "People's Party With Talib Kweli," Kweli and Jasmin Leigh sit down with singer, writer, arranger and first lady of Bad Boy Records.

FAITH EVANS

Here's what we got into on this one:

• Befriending Talib in the early 2000's and already being mutual fans of each other's work.
• Her mother having Faith at age 17 while she was working as a singer/band leader.
• Catching the attention of her church at age 4 while singing "Let the Sunshine In".
• Sneaking out of the house as a teen to create and learn how to navigate the studio.
• Being close friends with Redman's younger sister Roslyn throughout high school.
• Redman introducing NYC Cannabis legend Branson to Faith, who brought him to BIG.
• Talib freestyling his way out of incarceration while traveling through Bermuda.
• How her son's struggles with autism has become her number one priority in life.
• The backstory of getting noticed by Puff and signing with Bad Boy in 1993.
• Hit Squad's Hurricane G. being a bridge to her and Biggie getting together.
• Her goals and thoughts during the time of releasing her debut album 'Faith'.
• Faith's experience attending the infamous 1995 Source Awards.
• Being the voice of truth while protecting the legacies of BIG and Pac.
• Linking up with DMX on his 'I Miss You' and her experience working with X.
• Faith's 1998 hit 'Love Like This' and her honest take on Fat Man Scoop's remix.
• The mixed bag of influences that inspired her 2001 album 'Faithfully'.
• Meeting an unknown D'Angelo while she collab'd with A Tribe on 'Stressed Out'.
• Her exit from Bad Boy in 2005 to create 'The First Lady' and her talk with Puff.
• Raekwon joining in on her remake of Biggie's 'Everyday Struggle'.
• The powerful lyrics on her song 'Real Things' and who penned them.
• Making a compilation record in 2012 for the reality show 'R&B Divas'
• Feeling like Biggie's spirit was in the studio during the making of 2017's 'The King & I'.
• Why she felt it was important to bring Lil' Kim in on 'Lovin' You For Life'.
• Faith's husband, producer and TV reality star Stevie J and their history.

JR Writer & Hell Rell on Dipset Turmoil, Cam’ron, Jim Jones & Why They Stayed Neutral | Ep. Hotney 11 Streams • 2 months ago

JR Writer and Hell Rell sit down for an honest conversation about the current division within Dipset, their relationships with Cam’ron, Jim Jones and Juelz Santana, and why they refused to choose sides in other grown men’s disagreements.

The two Diplomats also discuss rebuilding their careers without chasing the spotlight, gaining ownership of their music, unreleased diss records, competing against each other in the studio and reuniting for their new collaborative album, Double Trouble.

From Lil Wayne and Michael Vick stories to surviving bad deals and earning respect without becoming the biggest names in the group, JR Writer and Hell Rell prove that staying out of the drama never meant stepping away from the legacy.

Double Trouble arrives August 28.

"Feel Me Now" Lyrics:
With your hands around my throat, watch me while I choke
Pray for us
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
You’re my fear and you’re my doubt
I miss the void of your sin
I miss the taste of your skin
I don’t know where to begin again
I hear the words from your mouth, but there is no easy way out
Some things are better when left unspoken now
Can we start again somehow?
Tell me, can you feel me now?
Cause I can’t fight this by myself
With your hands around my throat, watch me while I choke
Pray for us
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
You’re my fear and you’re my doubt
I know there’s no room for hope
Can’t you see?
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
You’re my fear and you’re my doubt
I know the things that you did
I’ve been a victim of it
Hold me to standards you’ve already broken now
I feel all the pressure building
I don’t think I can fight it off
Cause I gave you my everything and that was not enough, that was not enough
Can we start again somehow?
With your hands around my throat, watch me while I choke
Pray for us
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
You’re my fear and you’re my doubt
I know there’s no room for hope
Can’t you see?
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
You’re my fear and you’re my doubt
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
Tell me, can you feel me now?
I wanna say, the person that I was was not okay
But you can’t go and hand all of the blame to me
It’s plain to see you weren’t there for me
Don’t turn away, because I’d do anything to make you stay
Don’t tell me I’m the one who walked away
With your hands around my throat, watch me while I choke
Pray for us
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
You’re my fear and you’re my doubt
I know there’s no room for hope
Can’t you see?
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
You’re my fear and you’re my doubt
Pray for us
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breathe out
Tell me, can you feel me now?
Can’t you see
I can’t breathe in, I can’t breath out
You’re my fear and you’re my doubt

Lyrics
Yeah
Leggo
me duele tanto
otra noche sin ti
otra noche sin ti
yeah yeah
otro día que me despierto y en mi cama no estas
dime de que me sirve el cash
si lo que yo quiero no se compra
de noche mi sombra te nombra
bájale al orgullo quiero verte
detente
loco tú me tienes impaciente
me duele tanto
otra noche sin ti
otra noche sin ti
Yeah Yeah
Been in a while since I’ve seen your face
When you know it gets lonely in LA
Thinking of you every day
Say the word I’m on a one way
First I gotta follow your lead listen to whatever you say
And act like I’m ok
Why you want to cause my pain?
When you know I’m sorry
Used to shed tears in the rari
There I was wishing you would stop me
Here I am wishing you would call me
I’m outside and the rain is pouring
Hoping we’d be good by the morning
You know I don’t do it on purpose
You know I can’t go another night without you
No more nights without you
No more
Another night without you
No more nights without you
Y yo no aguanto
otra noche sin ti
otra noche sin ti
me duele tanto
otra noche sin ti
otra noche sin ti
