Lyrics:

Broken are the pieces
I’ve been shaping lately
Focused on the things
That didn’t make no sense
Guess that growing up
Was never meant to be easy
Yeah I got used to doing everything sideways
Didn't really care about how anyone felt
Hiding my emotions down in different ashtrays

But what is lost ain’t gone
No you can’t just let go
Cause it’s a part of you that
Will make you strong
Embrace your flaws

I’m not gonna fight back
What I’ve become
Yeah I got bruises
Where I came from
But I wouldn’t change
If I could restart
I ain’t gonna hide these
Beautiful scars
I’ve been going way too hard on myself
Guess that is the reason I’ve been feeling like hell
But I wouldn’t change
If I could restart
I ain’t gonna hide these
Beautiful scars

I went down a road, that only got me nowhere
I’ve seen every corner, every inch of this place
Being all alone, it really got me thinking
Maybe overthinking

That what is lost ain’t gone
No you can’t just let go
Cause it’s a part of you that
Will make you strong
Embrace your flaws

I’m not gonna fight back
What I’ve become
Yeah I got bruises
Where I came from
But I wouldn’t change
If I could restart
I ain’t gonna hide these
Beautiful scars
I’ve been going way too hard on myself
Guess that is the reason I’ve been feeling like hell
But I wouldn’t change
If could restart
I ain’t gonna hide these
Beautiful scars

Hide these beautiful scars
Hide these beautiful scars

I’m not gonna fight back
What I’ve become
Yeah I got bruises
Where I came from
But I wouldn’t change
If I could restart
I ain’t gonna hide these
Beautiful scars
I’ve been going way too hard on myself
Guess that is the reason I’ve been feeling like hell
But I wouldn’t change
If could restart
I ain’t gonna hide these
Beautiful scars

The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Tones And I | Before They Were Famous | How Dance Monkey Changed Her Life + Interview

Odds are that, by now, you’ve probably heard at least a snippet of the 2019 hit, “Dance Monkey” -- the song that’s been streamed well over a billion times from Australian artist, Tones and I. And yet, at the time she released it, Tones was still so new to the industry that even though her song was charting number one across the world, she barely understood what a music chart was! This lack of familiarity in regards to the industry only makes what Tone managed to accomplish all the more remarkable. A self-taught producer, this young woman began tinkering with music while working retail and living in Melbourne. She managed to find her niche by combining piano melodies with electronic beats, something she was inspired to explore after hearing the work of Macklemore. How did she go from fan girl to the top of the charts? And how has she achieved the seemingly impossible almost solely on her own? You’re about to find out on our new episode of Before They Were Famous!
