Lyrics:
We were running through the red lights
in a hurry to get to nowhere
in a white Beretta

We'll go to Memphis in the morning
get it over with
and in a couple days you'll feel a lot better

I was raised in the church
I was washed in the blood
and we all were saved before we even left home

If his love is unconditional
why do I feel so miserable
why are you digging your nails in the styrofoam

It was so many years ago
Oh and I just didn't know
but that ain't no excuse

For being who you are, I thank you and I'm sorry
for what you went through

I was sitting at a redlight
listening to Son Volt
May the wind take your troubles away

Could have been somebody's father
Couldn't boil a pot of water
I was 19 years old in 1998

Raised in the church
Washed in the blood
and we all were saved before we even left home

I thank God you weren't brought up like me
with all that shame and certainty
And I'm sorry you had to go in that room alone

It was so many years ago
oh and I just didn't know
That ain't no excuse

For being who you are, I thank you and I'm sorry
for what I put you through

It was so many years ago
oh and I just didn't know
but that ain't no excuse

I thank you for your grace
for the dreams we got to chase
for what you chose to do

We were running through the red lights
in a hurry to get to nowhere
In a white Beretta

The Giants of Jazz are: Art Blakey, Thelonious Monk, Kai Winding, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Stitt, with Al McKibbon on bass gave a live performance on the Newport Jazz Festival October 31, 1971 in De Doelen Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Thelonious Sphere Monk (October 10, 1917– February 17, 1982) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "'Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser", "Ruby, My Dear", "In Walked Bud", and "Well, You Needn't". Monk is the second-most-recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington.

Monk's compositions and improvisations feature dissonances and angular melodic twists and are consistent with his unorthodox approach to the piano, which combined a highly percussive attack with abrupt, dramatic use of switched key releases, silences, and hesitations.
Monk was renowned for a distinct look which included suits, hats, and sunglasses. He was also noted for an idiosyncratic habit during performances: while other musicians continued playing, Monk would stop, stand up, and dance for a few moments before returning to the piano.
Monk is one of five jazz musicians to have been featured on the cover of Time magazine (the others being Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington and Wynton Marsalis).

Erroll Louis Garner (June 15, 1921 – January 2, 1977) was an American jazz pianist and composer known for his swing playing and ballads. His best-known composition, the ballad "Misty", has become a jazz standard. Scott Yanow of Allmusic calls him "one of the most distinctive of all pianists" and a "brilliant virtuoso." He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6363 Hollywood Blvd. His live album, Concert by the Sea, first released in 1955, sold over a million copies by 1958 and Scott Yanow's opinion is: "this is the album that made such a strong impression that Garner was considered immortal from then on.
This perfrmance was filmed and broadcast by AVRO television on June 18, 1962 in the Singer Concert Hall in Laren The Netherlands.

Cuttin' off all you weak hoes (Hoes)
I ain't give a fuck like Lizzo
Keep it one hunnid like a C-note
That is OD (Yeah)
Uh, run it on me (Okay)
Hmm, drip-drip leak (Drip-drip, drip-drip)
I'm an antique (Okay I am)
Don't flex, no Jeep (No, hahaha)
It ain't that deep (It ain't that deep)
Yeah, skrrt off on beat (Skrr, skrr)
Ayy, skrrt off, burn off, start off, ooh

[Chorus]
Ice out the Rollie, roll down the streets
Flooded 'cause life is a beach (Yeah)
You cannot hear me 'cause I'm out of reach (Hey)
All type of designer, is packed in my brief (Yeah)
That's how I started my week (Ooh), big money speech (Yeah)
Nothin' I'm talkin' is cheap (Yeah)
I just might spin through your block in my Jeep
Big money speech and my pockets Monique

[Outro]
I see (Yeah)
Uh, I see like my blinds (Hmm, hmm)
I see (I see)
Uh, I see what I want to (Yeah, yeah)
I see (I see)
Blind you with my bezel (Yeah, uh)

Lyrics:
Come ride with me
Through the veins of history
I'll show you a god
Who falls asleep on the job
And how can we win
When fools can be kings?
Don't waste your time
Or time will waste you

No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive
No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive
No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive

Lyrics:

I know it’s a bad idea
But how can I help myself
Been inside for most this year
And I thought a few drinks they might help

It’s been a while my dear
Dealing with the cards life dealt
I’m still holding back these tears
While my friends are somewhere else

I pictured this year a little bit different when it hit February
I step in the bar, it hit me so hard
Oh how can it be this heavy?
Every song reminds me you’re gone
And I feel the lump form in my throat
‘Coz I’m here alone

Just dancing with my eyes closed
‘Coz everywhere I look I still see you
Time is moving so slow
And I don’t know what else that I can do
So I’ll keep dancing with my eyes closed
So I’ll keep dancing with my

Delusion is here again
And I think you’ll come home soon
A word brings me right back in
Then it’s only me that’s in this room
I guess I could just pretend
The colours are more than blue
But I lost more than my friend
I can’t help but missing you

I pictured this month a little bit different no one is ever ready
And when it unfolds you get in a hole
Oh how can it be this heavy?
Everything changes, nothing’s the same
Except the truth is now you’re gone
And life just goes on

So I’m dancing with my eyes closed
‘Coz everywhere I look I still see you
Time is moving so slow
And I don’t know what else that I can do
So I’ll keep dancing with my eyes closed
So I’ll keep dancing with my eyes closed
Oh I’ll keep dancing with my

They’re shutting the bar
They’re cleaning the floor
And everyone is already home
But I’m on my own

Still dancing with my eyes closed
‘Coz everywhere I look I still see you
Time is moving so slow
And I don’t know what else that I can do
So I’ll keep dancing with my eyes closed
Oh I’ll keep dancing with my eyes closed
Oh I’ll keep dancing with my

Journey through Africa with revisited desert blues masters Ali Farka Toure, Tinariwen, Fatoumata Diawara, Rokia Traore and many more.

This organic house and ethno house mix came together as a tribute to some of my favourite musical and spiritual desert blues masters.

I named it Africafé as a symbol of its afro influence as well as the mood uplifting feel it will leave you with. A careful selection of ethno and organic edits allowed to also give a modern feel to this organic house & desert blues mix.

Enjoy 😎

🪬 The DJ 🪬

YOUS (Youssef El Kaddioui-Eder) is a Moroccan/Austrian musician based in Hong Kong, Casablanca and Vienna. He brings special care to tribal, organic and ethno sounds to create transcendental musical experiences.

From desert, shamanic, jungle, organic downtempo to techno and house, the music mix at Y Music aims to help align inner emotions and convey strong feelings of elevation.
