'Banefyre' follows 2020’s Ellengæst — an effort that found CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX employ a series of notable guest vocalists alongside Kordic, prompting Metal Hammer to describe it as their “most cohesive and emotionally devastating record.” Kordic is now paired with Swedish vocalist Joel Segerstedt, who made his CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX debut last year via the “Painful Reminder/Dead is Dead” single. Piano, synth and trumpet player Helen Stanley and additional guitarist Andy Taylor complete the lineup. Greaves says Stanley and Taylor “fit so well creatively,” which has made CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX feel like a band when making plans and decisions.

Season of Mist has always been known for being an innovative and wide spectrum label, interested in exploring and developing new artists and bands. The multi-decade Rock 'n' Roll Goddess, Rock& Roll Hall of Fame recipient Joan Jett is currently In Australia with her new album with The Black Hearts "Bad Reputation".
Todd Oldham's Biography of Joan Jett is also a fantastic read for anyone who likes the music of the time period from "The Runaways" and wants to find out more about Joan's trial's and tribulation's in the "Rock Game"
While I'm on the subject of the "The Runaways", their Manager, Kim Fowley was once very good friends with Gail Sloatman Zappa, they even cut a record together, "Americas Sweethearts", which Fowley produced. Fowley would later go on to produce Frank Zappa and some of The Mothers of Invention on his seven inch single "Where it's at".
Fowley was a self proclaimed "male street hustler" in his youth and would cruise the street's of "The City of Angel's" looking for tricks.
In 1975 Fowley would have perhaps his greatest success when he created the "The Runaways".
As people who are reading this would probably know, The Runaways featured a then sixteen year old Joan Jett and Lita Ford, whom Fowley "tastefully" attired in leather and lingerie, he would later boast "Everyone loved the idea of sixteen year old girls playing guitars and singing about fu*king"! Some of the young girls in the band, including Cherie Curry, would later accuse Fowley of requiring them to perform "sexual services" for him AND his associates as a prerequisite for membership in the band!
So when Joan says she knows ALL about that scene, I BELIEVE her!

Today’s feature is a group from the 90s, early 2000s that were really on to something and in a lot of ways were just in the right time to have success, even if it were a niche based audience. They are most noted for their antifeminism and male perspective rebuttals to songs by female groups like Destiny’s child and TLC. At the time no other hip hop acts were focusing on this lane so presented the group with and interesting transition from what they were previously known for, which was lyricism and a cinematic approach you could also say was a bit ahead of its time. Their debut album was a standout in the late 90s that just missed the mark of being a classic. But the ride wouldn’t last long. A few year after its release they would lose member Marlon Bryant who was hit by an alleged drunk driver who swerved onto the sidewalk he was walking after leaving at local deli around 3 am in the morning. He reportedly pushed a young boy out of the way just before being hit but could save himself. After his death the remaining group went into a more than 10 year hiatus as far as albums released and since then you rarely ever heard from them if it wasn’t releasing semi parody rebuttals to popular songs that led the feminist charge like “Independent man” in response to Destiny’s child Independent Woman. They didn’t only have great concepts, but a unique opportunity to become just as big a group as any in hip hop and for these reasons that didn’t happen. What Happened To SPORTY THIEVZ? Romeo shows Ebro where he used to work his 9-5 before he made it, at Cipriani’s. Only then, working as security, he couldn't even use the same entrance as other employees. Now, Apple Music has rented out the entire place to interview him.

Romeo explains what a pleasant surprise it was to collaborate with Justin Timberlake on "Sin Fin" and how the song “Cupable” was perfect for Dominican rapper Lapiz Conciente.
