Ray Charles Robinson (September 23, 1930 – June 10, 2004), known professionally as Ray Charles, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, and composer. Among friends and fellow musicians he preferred being called "Brother Ray". He was often referred to as "The Genius". Charles was blind from the age of seven.
He played several times at the North Sea Jazz Festival. This is the second concert that day in 1980.

"I Got You (I Feel Good)" is a song by American singer James Brown. Recorded and released as a single in 1965, it was his highest charting song and is arguably his best-known recording.

This is the second performance of James Brown and his band, that he did during the North Sea Jazz Festival on 11 July 1981, held in the Congress center in The Hague.

This second concert is extraordinary and sees a James Brown that really gives everything to get the audience to their feet. The first concert that we published on 5 October 2017 which was recorded by AVRO Television earlier that 11th July 1981 saw a lame audience that did not know how to react. In this fantastic video we see what James Brown could do with any audience. Also this concert has a different tracklisting including a sensational 'It's A Man's World' (also on our channel) in which he pays tribute to great artists who died such as Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and especially to John Lennon, who died some 6 months earlier.

James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, dancer, musician, record producer, and bandleader. The central progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th century music, he is often referred to by the honorific nicknames "Godfather of Soul", "Mr. Dynamite", and "Soul Brother No. 1". In a career that lasted over 50 years, he influenced the development of several music genres. Brown was one of the first 10 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at its inaugural induction in New York on January 23, 1986.

Brown began his career as a gospel singer in Toccoa, Georgia. He came to national public attention in the mid-1950s as the lead singer of the Famous Flames, a rhythm and blues vocal group founded by Bobby Byrd. With the hit ballads "Please, Please, Please" and "Try Me", Brown built a reputation as a dynamic live performer with the Famous Flames and his backing band, sometimes known as the James Brown Band or the James Brown Orchestra. Gladys Maria Knight (born May 28, 1944), known as the "Empress of Soul" is an American singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman, and author. A seven-time Grammy Award-winner, Knight is known for the hits she recorded during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with her group Gladys Knight & the Pips, which also included her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. “I heard it through the grapevine” was written by Norman Whirtfield and Barrett Strong. Although many people think it’s a Marvin Gaye song, it was first put on record by Gladys Knight & The Pips in 1967. Gaye however had a hit with the song, about a man who finds out his girlfriend is cheating on him, in 1968. This live performance was taped on June 11, 1976 for the Dutch program “Music All-In”.

Dion's Las Vegas residencies redefined live entertainment, while her resilience through personal struggles continues to inspire fans worldwide. “Think Tice” was the third single from Celine Dion 's 12th album but third English language album, ”The Colour Of My Love”, after the singles "The Power of Love" and “Misled”. The song was written by Andy Hill and Pete Sinfield, who also wrote together for Bucks Fizz including their toppers: "Making Your Mind Up" and "The Land Of Make Believe". "Think Twice" is a power ballad that talks about the complexities of love and relationships. It became a huge hit in Europe. It became a no. 1 hit in Ireland (9 weeks), Belgium, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Denmark and reached top ten in Australia, Spain and Switzerland. In the UK where it also topped the charts it is still her second biggest hit there, only eclipsed by "My Heart Will Go On". Although successful in Europe, it kinda failed in the US ending at no. 95 in the charts. "Think Twice" was performed live at the Grand Gala du Disc, the annual TV gala of AVRO Television in the Netherlands, on October 7, 1994.
