When we think of editing in music, we might think of quantizing lining up rhythm in an R&B song or autotune fixing the vocals of a pop singer. Many people don’t realize that editing exists in classical recordings as well. This episode of Sound Field explores the current debate in classical music of how much recordings should be edited.

Nahre Sol interviews a panel of classical musicians about their take on editing. Jon Nakamatsu, Joyce Yang, Tanya Gabrielian, and Corin Lee share their opinions on how much editing is okay and when it goes too far. At the end of the episode Arthur Buckner and Nahre face off in a quiz to see who can tell which instruments are virtual and which are real.

Ozzy Osbourne has spent over 50 years as the Prince Of Darkness and has become the biggest Heavy Metal icon of all time. With his new album, Ordinary Man, hitting the shelves, it's hard to believe he survived the chaos after so many years.

Ozzy Osbourne started his career when Geezer Butler came knocking on his door at 14 Lodge Road, Aston, Birmingham in the mid-60s. Shortly after this, Bill Ward and Toni Iommi would also pay Ozzy a visit. Sometime later, the first-ever Heavy Metal band was formed, Black Sabbath.

Ozzy released his first solo record, Blizzard Of Ozz, in 1980 after forming a band with Randy Rhoads. Prior to this, he spent around 10 years on the road with Black Sabbath.

This is Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince Of Darkness.

Today AD is welcomed to Los Angeles by award-winning singer-songwriter and actor Demi Lovato to tour her trippy modern farmhouse. With six bedrooms and seven bathrooms spread across 8,500 square feet, the spacious Studio City property provided the blank canvas that Lovato had always dreamed about. Imbuing her new home with life alongside Argyle Design founders Kat Bell and James Drew was a process that paralleled her own personal journey. Every inch of the space embodies her personality—and the sense of fluidity that continues to shape her identity.

ABOUT ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST
The leading international design authority, Architectural Digest features articles and videos of the best in architecture, style, culture, travel, and shopping.

In this episode of Open Door, Grammy-winning record producer and DJ Zedd gives an in-depth tour of his $16 million mansion in Benedict Canyon, an area of Los Angeles that's near Sherman Oaks and northwest of Beverly Hills. Zedd's self-decorated home is 9,500 square feet with views of the canyon and tons of full-length glass windows.

See photos and read the full interview here: http://archdg.co/x3PLMMq
The house is structured into three sections: work, living, and sleep. The work section has Zedd's recording studio and an unfinished gym.

The driveway leads into the front entrance, which crosses a moat.

A huge wall with cubbies holds art, awards, and silly memorabilia. For instance, Zedd's Grammy sits next to a poop emoji.

At the end of a corridor, before going outside, guests can pick their favorite flavor of the rainbow from the Skittles machine.

Zedd also has a server room and a "Costco Room" that contains just about anything he would need if he weren't able to leave the house for a long time.

The bathrooms feature automated blinds that can sometimes surprise the person taking the shower early in the morning.

The remote-controlled curtains in Zedd's bedroom make him the happiest of any feature in the house.

Outside, the pool has a hidden jacuzzi / hot tub that's revealed when the pool's water level drops.

The kitchen has four built-in hibachi grills, a pot filler above the stovetop (which Zedd says is the reason he bought the house), and built-in vacuums.

I caught up with Can't Swim's tour manager, Charlie Caruso, to chat about what his job entails.
A huge shoutout to Charlie for being so cool about being interviewed while actually working haha :)
I left this as sort of a longer piece with hopes that people who are interested in pursuing tour managing could digest all the information.

Enjoy!

Lyrics:

I was walking home on a Sunday
I was walking home on a Sunday
I was walking home on a Sunday
I was walking home on a Sunday

And I’m
not looking back
But I’m not looking forward to anything in my life cause it never liked me
I can’t sleep cause I don’t know what’s inside me
The devils demons haunt and do divide me
And I think I’m over it
So I won’t stop walking
If told you the story bet you wouldn’t believe
Not sure I should feel a sigh of relief
He got them but he didn’t get me
But for some Odd reason I don’t feel free

So now what?
This pain is too much
The screams of the people make music in my head and listens to tough
so I must

Wipe my mind of everything I saw in that church
Suppress all these feelings even though that they hurt
I don’t understand how you could let this happen God I wanna know why you even let that man on earth
I believe that this life is by you and whatever you choose is the best
I believe in the choices you make even though they may hurt and effect
I’m just human I don’t understand you I know you are very complex
What should I go next my thoughts cannot connect my PTSD shakes me and leaves me depressed

In the back of my mind there's a place that I know full of sorrow
When I think of times my anxiety fills what is hollow
I don’t know when it’ll go away
But I hope it’ll go away
I just pray I feel better when I sleep and wake up tomorrow

Left foot right foot keep walking
Left foot right foot keep walking
Don’t look back your past is haunting
demons creeping always stalking
In that church I got down crawling
Couldn’t not stop my eyes from balling
Children screaming, bodies falling
Keep on shooting b****** hawking
Some one help us please just stop him
Why’s he laughing he’s been plotting
Says get up I hear d**** calling
I stood up and started walking
We locked eyes and he was smiling
Shot himself i saw him dying
Adrenaline was in my system I couldn't stop I had to go
But I just knew that if I made it I’d get out and praise to the lord
Now I’m walking on this Sunday and I just hope I make it home

I was walking home on a Sunday
I was walking home on a Sunday
I was walking home on a Sunday
I was walking home on a Sunday

The New Abnormal is the sixth studio album by American rock band the Strokes, released on April 10, 2020, through Cult and RCA Records. Their first album following Comedown Machine (2013) from seven years prior, it was produced by Rick Rubin and recorded at his Shangri-La studio in Malibu, California, with additional recording taking place at studios in Los Angeles County and Hawaii. The Strokes began performing songs from the album for the first time at different shows in 2019, before revealing the album's track list and cover art in early 2020. The songs "At the Door", "Bad Decisions", and "Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus" were released as singles prior to the album's release, with "The Adults Are Talking" being released as a single post-release.

The New Abnormal received positive reviews from critics, many of whom considered it a return to form. Praise was particularly directed towards the maturity of Julian Casablancas' lyrics and the band's improved sense of musical cohesion. It reached number 1 in Scotland and the top ten in six other countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. The album also won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021.

“Hooks so good I get a rush off ‘em”
– Anthony Fantano, The Needle Drop

Spirit Phone is a collection of 14 deviously catchy pop songs that lightheartedly explore such macabre topics as haunted mansions, confectionery cannibalism, Lovecraftian romance and 1980s economics. Bringing to mind the playfully ghoulish work of new wave acts like Oingo Boingo, the album presents its dark themes with mischievous relish. Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop included it in his Best of 2016 list with an 8/10 rating, praising its clever lyrics, high energy, and catchy songwriting.

Available now, Spirit Phone has been remastered by experimental sound guru Angel Hair Audio with new original art by Ming Doyle. Along with the 14 tracks that comprise the album proper, side 4 includes 6 bonus tracks. Download card contains full album, all 13 bonus tracks from the original release, and exclusive album commentary by Neil.
