In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the classic debut single ‘Supersonic’ on 11th April 1994), Oasis have today unveiled an essential early live recording of the song. Limited edition physical single formats are also released to commemorate this landmark date - a replica of the original 1994 CD Single (including the white label demo version of ‘Columbia’) and individually numbered pearl coloured 7” vinyl - out now on Big Brother Recordings. The single is also available in Spatial Audio on Apple Music.

This kinetic live version of ‘Supersonic’ was recorded at the Limelight, Belfast on 4th September 1994, perfectly capturing the moment when Oasis were one of the most exciting new bands and poised on the brink of era-defining crossover success. Earlier that week, their seminal debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ had been released (29th August 1994) and shortly before taking to the stage in Belfast, the band discovered the album had reached Number 1 in the UK Official Album Chart. The fans who had travelled from all over Northern Ireland were about to witness an unforgettable gig that would go down in local folklore.

David Neely was General Manager and booker at the venue in 1994 and recalls the night of Oasis’ gig - “They took the stage in the Limelight, Belfast on Sunday 4th September. It was a sell out 500 people at the gig and tickets only £6.75! The Sunday of the week the debut album was released, the Limelight show was the right venue, for the right band at the right time. I remember around 6.30pm (in the dark days before mobile phones) that a call came into the office from Radio One, saying the band had just went to Number 1 in the album charts. It was a show that is now claimed by thousands that they were there - simply a show that is legendary in these parts.”

Delivering a set full of attitude, earsplitting feedback and stone cold classics-in-waiting, the Manchester five piece transcended their early potential and fans’ feverish expectations. Oasis were about to become one of the defining cultural forces of British Music.

For many, his concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2000 was one of the best shows ever seen in the Netherlands. On that sensational evening D’Angelo showed he is an outstanding bandleader as well as a charismatic multi-instrumentalist. He whipped his horn section – all of whom are jazz musicians – into a frenzy and each one gave the performance of their life. Afterwards, things fell frightening silent for him for quite a while as a result of artistic questioning and personal problems. But now, fifteen years on, D’Angelo is literally back and in top form. His new album Black Messiah (2015) has been dubbed a masterpiece and the show that the king of ‘groove, croon and swoon’ brought to Amsterdam earlier this year was a sensual, romping, sometimes raunchy and completely unforgettable soul spectacle. A unique opportunity to see this reborn master of soul hit the heights once again.

*ABOUT LUCK AND STRANGE*
‘Luck and Strange’ was recorded over five months in Brighton and London and is Gilmour’s first album of new material in nine years. The record was produced by David and Charlie Andrew, best known for his work with ALT-J and Marika Hackman. Of this new working relationship, David says, “We invited Charlie to the house, so he came and listened to some demos, and said things like, “Well, why does there have to be a guitar solo there?” and “Do they all fade out? Can’t some of them just end?”. He has a wonderful lack of knowledge or respect for this past of mine. He’s very direct and not in any way overawed, and I love that. That is just so good for me because the last thing you want is people just deferring to you.”

The majority of the album’s lyrics have been composed by Polly Samson, Gilmour’s co-writer and collaborator for the past thirty years. Samson says of the lyrical themes covered on ‘Luck and Strange’, “It’s written from the point of view of being older; mortality is the constant.” Gilmour elaborates, “We spent a load of time during and after lockdown talking about and thinking about those kind of things.” Polly has also found the experience of working with Charlie Andrew liberating, “He wants to know what the songs are about, he wants everyone who’s playing on them to have the ideas that are in the lyric informing their playing. I have particularly loved it for that reason.”

The album features eight new tracks along with a beautiful reworking of The Montgolfier Brothers’ ‘Between Two Points’ and has artwork and photography by the renowned artist Anton Corbijn.

Musicians contributing to the record include Guy Pratt & Tom Herbert on bass, Adam Betts, Steve Gadd and Steve DiStanislao on drums, Rob Gentry & Roger Eno on keyboards with string and choral arrangements by Will Gardner. The title track also features the late Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright, recorded in 2007 at a jam in a barn at David’s house.

Some contributions emerged from the live streams that Gilmour and family performed to a global audience during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021; Romany Gilmour sings, plays the harp and appears on lead vocals on ‘Between Two Points’. Gabriel Gilmour also sings backing vocals.

The album’s cover image, photographed and designed by Anton Corbijn, is inspired by a lyric written by Charlie Gilmour for the album’s final song ‘Scattered’. Of working with his family on ‘Luck and Strange’, David says, “Polly and I have been writing together for over thirty years and the Von Trapped live streams showed the great blend of Romany’s voice and harp-playing and that led us into a feeling of discarding some of the past that I’d felt bound to and that I could throw those rules out and do whatever I felt like doing, and that has been such a joy.”

Jacquelyn Suzette Wright-Johnson (born May 17, 1977), better known by her stage name, Jaguar Wright, is an American R&B and neo soul singer, songwriter and narrator. She is part of the Okayplayer collective. Wright has performed and collaborated alongside rap acts such as The Roots, Jay-Z, and Blackalicious.

She has released two solo albums to date: Denials, Delusions & Decisions in 2002, and Divorcing Neo 2 Marry Soul in 2005. Wright also recorded an album entitled ...And Your Point Is? which was due for release in 2003 on MCA Records (who also distributed her debut), before the label folded. However, many of the tracks recorded for that album later appeared on Divorcing Neo 2 Marry Soul. In 2019, Wright released the 5-song EP entitled "Lost" on Bandcamp. Mark Knopfler’s new special recording of his anthemic ‘Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)’, produced by his longtime collaborator Guy Fletcher (who has edited the contributions into a 9 minute piece), features an unprecedented line-up of some of the greatest guitarists in history. ‘Legendary’ does not begin to cover it - David Gilmour to Ronnie Wood, Slash to Eric Clapton, Sting to Joan Armatrading, Bruce Springsteen to Pete Townshend, Nile Rodgers to Joan Jett, Brian May to Tony Iommi, Joe Walsh, Sam Fender and many more jaw dropping names. And, in a great honour, the track opens with Jeff Beck’s final recording.

Roger Daltrey, Teenage Cancer Trust’s Honorary Patron and co-founder of Teen Cancer America (with Pete Townshend), added harmonica, and Beatles icon Ringo Starr is on drums along with his son Zak Starkey, their two drum tracks switching from one to the other, revealing an unmistakable family style. Cancer kills more teenagers and young adults in the UK than any other disease. For those who survive, going through it without the right support can be devastating – physically and emotionally. Cancer is different when you are younger: It can be harder to get a diagnosis, cancer treatments can be less effective for young people, and accessing clinical trials can be harder. Teenage Cancer Trust funds specialist nurses and youth workers to be there for a young person when cancer has turned their world upside down and to help make sure cancer doesn’t rob young people of the best years of their life.

About The Infamous:
Originally released April 25, 1995 through RCA/Loud Records, The Infamous, Mobb Deep's second studio album, signified an important new sound and direction for East Coast hip-hop. Featuring contributions from illuminary guest artists including Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and Q-Tip, The Infamous marked Havoc and Prodigy's evolution from Queensbridge underground phenomenon to one of the most influential and successful duos in hip-hop, selling more than three million records. An immediate urban/pop crossover success, The Infamous entered the Billboard 200 at #15 and the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart at #3 the week of its release.
