THE GROOVE LINE Drum Cover (Extended Mix) Heatwave HD (🎧High Quality Audio)《 with Lyrics 》 Hotney 6 Streams • 2 years ago

Extended mix drum cover of The Groove Line, by Heatwave!

Share your love for Heatwave. What's your favorite Heatwave song? How did you hear about them? I've been playing drums to this song at school dances since it came out in 1978. I was only 14 years old, but I was already heavy into disco, rock and jazz fusion - among other types of music! How time flies! Keep the conversation going and leave a comment and subscribe! Heatwave fans rejoice!!!

"THE GROOVE LINE" LYRICS
Pack your grip, takin' you on a trip
Ain't no seats, all we got's dancin' feet
Leave your worries behind
'Cause rain shine, don't mind
We're ridin' on the groove line tonight

Ooh Ooh
Ooh Ooh

Catch this train know you'll be glad you came
Hit the track party hard there and back
Leave your worries behind
'Cause rain shine don't mind
We're ridin' on the groove line tonight

Ooh Ooh
Ooh Ooh

Check out the wheels a turnin'
You know we won't stop
We got this boiler burnin'
We're keepin' it hot

So grab your friends, get the train comin' thru
Climb on board, where you leave's up to you
Leave your worries behind
'Cause rain shine don't mind
We're ridin' on the groove line tonight

Ooh ooh
Ooh ooh
Ooh ooh
Ooh ooh

Leave your worries behind
'Cause rain shine don't mind
We're ridin' on the groove line tonight

Ooh Ooh
Ooh Ooh

Check out the wheels a turnin'
You know we won't stop
We got this boiler burnin'
We're keepin' it hot

So grab your friends
Get the train comin' through
Climb on board
Where you lead is up to you

Leave your worries behind
'Cause rain shine won't mind
We're ridin' on the groove line tonight

Ooh Ooh

We can ride
Rain shine don't mind
We're ridin' on the groove line tonight (repeat and fade).

SONG/VIDEO NOTES
This extended mix features keyboard whiz Rod Temperton on an expanded instrumental section. Harmoniously, you can hear Eric John's beautiful rhythm guitar chords in this section. Music to the ears.

Technically, “The Groove Line” is classified as a disco song. However, its sophisticated R&B funk sound sets it apart from most of the ubiquitous, redundant disco music of the late 70s. Instead of a dreamy jazzy intro like "Boogie Nights", Rod Temperton's genius chord progression is utterly apparent as the song begins with a synth intro that pulsates on the eighths, like a freight train in motion chugging along. I love the intro - so much so that I extended that pulsating synth then added four crash cymbal rolls before moving to the sizzling hi-hats. I also added an 808 sine wave roll-off on the first 3 kick drum hits that sounds great with subwoofers. Turn it up and wake the neighbors!

At the time, synthesizers were new and really evolving - being integrated more and more into popular music with complex arrangements using multiple keyboards. The beauty of Rod’s synth melodies and the spirited complementary vocal harmonies of the Wilder brothers was unmatched. Keith sang with an aggressively masculine edge, while Johnnie had a feather-light smooth touch. He just looks so happy when he sings! Johnnie's falsetto reigns throughout the song, handling tricky chord changes during the chorus with ease.

The drummer, Ernest "Bilbo" Berger, an underrated Jazz/Blues drummer from Czechoslovakia, is one that I list as one of my most influential funk drummers of the 70s. Here he executes a sixteenth note/semi-quaver pattern on the hi-hat that keeps the song grooving. On the chorus he switches to a swing-ish 'double-tap' quarter note close/open hi-hat pattern, that I play with my left hand (open, not crossed). His 1977 Ludwig Vistalite concert toms, perfectly tuned to the notes of the song, were bright and punchy. Barry Blue did a superb job of recording the drum track and mixing them prominently up front in the mix. I tried my best to do justice and match that tom and overall sound in this video.

*** Amy Winehouse’ 10.

* Die schönsten Konzertmomente *

Von Anfang an war uns klar, dass Amy Winehouse irgendwann einmal zu den ganzen Popstars gehören wird – und holten sie am 18. September 2004 zum SWR3 New Pop ins Theater Baden-Baden.

Eg hoyri teg
Saman geva lyftini
upp úr øskuni

Rísa upp á svørtum veingjum
Svíva inn í náttina
Tú ert systir mín
Eimborin úr dimmum iva
Nú ert tú brennimerkt við mær
Og eg verji teg

Nevið mítt reyða
Veingjabreiðið vítt
Glóð er mítt eyga
upp úr øskuni

Syng út í myrkrið
Eg hoyri teg
Saman geva lyftini
upp úr øskuni

Sveima vit á sterkum veingjum
Stevna inn í vissuna
Tú ert systir mín
Eldroðin úr farnum ótta
Festir í eitt brimandi bál
Men tú verjir meg

Sveima vit á fríum veingjum
Svørja at vit vilja tað
Tú ert systir mín
Eiðfastar í hvørja aðra
Orðini brend á mína húð
Aldri svíkja teg

RISE FROM THE ASHES

Red my beak is dyed
Wings span far and wide
Ember is my eye
Rise from the ashes

Sing to the darkness
I’m listening
We take our twin pledges
Rise from the ashes

We ascend on tar-bright wings
Soar into the falling night
You’re my sister soul
Ember-born of a dim doubt
Now you’re branded with my mark
And I protect you

Red my beak is dyed
Wings span far and wide
Ember is my eye
Rise from the ashes

Sing to the darkness
I’m listening
We take our twin pledges
Rise from the ashes

We glide on powerful wings
Stride into our certainty
You’re my sister soul
Cinders forged in long-forgot fear
Roar into a blazing pyre
But you protect me

We fly on unfettered wings
Swear that this be by our will
You’re my sister soul
Oath-bound to each other
by words seared into my skin
Never betray you

Lyrics:
I’m in my bag for realI got too high, come grab the wheel
They made me mad, I killGeeked up off perky pills
Still in the field, tryna swing my steel
Might sign a Madden deal
I keep my switchy nearI jump inside that double R
Too high to steer the wheel
My vision crystal clearI’ma tryna dive in lil mama
And see how that pussy feel
When the bodies droppingI leave mommas grieving
Demons see me
Nina by my side
Swear she got me fiending
Please don’t leave me
Please don’t leave me
I take all these drugs
Now I'm codeine dreaming
Poured up so much red, look like my cup is bleeding
Neck and wrist is floodedIce got me anemic
Ima buss her down that’s right after I eat it
Bitch told me she love meI know she don’t mean it
She knows I'm a dog
But baby, please don’t leave me
Niggas sending disses
But run every time they see me
They can’t see me
Think they blindI feel like Stevie
Wanna be meI'm a big dog
Niggas peewee
Red bottoms on my feet
They think I'm bleeding
Let’s go another round
She said she need it
Off Perkies back to back I think I'm fiending
Don’t pour me up again 'cause I need it

I’m in my bag for realI got too high, come grab the wheel
They made me mad, I killed
Geeked up off perky pills
Still in the field, tryna swing my steel
Might sign a Madden deal
I keep my switchy nearI just inside that double R
Too high to steer the wheel
My vision crystal clear
I’ma tryna dive in lil mama
And see how that pussy feel

I drop bags on tops for real
Don’t make me mad, I’ll send it
I'm on too much drugs for real
This wocky got me dizzy
They love to say they got from me
I don’t know how to feel it
I go on mission
Load up my drake, jump out the V and spin it
Ran up all these racks so I can blow it
You ain't by my side, I'm feeling lonely
Love to say they got but they don’t show it
Tryna shake them demons 'cause they oweI
'm fill up my trap 200 bowls
I'm tryna get it off
That bitch with me 200 up, I'm somewhere in a loft
Don’t play the field, I'm sliming shit, watch for the triple cross
That bitch ain't mine, I pass her to my mans, I alley oop and toss

I’m in my bag for real
I got too high, come grab the wheel
They made me mad, I killed
Geeked up off perky pills
Still in the field, tryna swing my steel
Might sign a Madden deal
I keep my switchy near
I just inside that double R
Too high to steer the wheel
My vision crystal clear
Ima tryna dive in lil mama
And see how that pussy feel

Lyrics:
HOOK:
I aint ever ran from a nigga, If I did cut my legs off.
I aint ever been with the hoe talk, snitch talk. Always talking about his fault.
Yea I'm a stand up nigga, got my bands up nigga. You don't wanna see me pissed off.
Never tell a lie to a bitch dog. When it come to them ya gotta play it raw.
And I never ever let the fuckery get to me. Niggas ain't worth my energy.
Cut em off make em feel it. I aint dealing with nothing if it don't make sense to me.
I never ever ever ever go against my kind for some niggas on the other side
I never ever ever ever put a bitch before the money. Gotta get it when it come to mine.

VERSE 1:
Lately I feel like its me vs me. Don't see competition why would you compete.
Don't even gotta be woke, still gonna be up. I make a bag in my sleep.
Cant get the hood outta me. You know where I be. Still posted up like I lease.
Trust me those choppers gonna bang. Cavity teeth, you better not think this shit sweet.
If the bitch bad put a stack in her rack. Im Dr Suess, Give me cat in the hat.
Booty poke out and her stomach on snatch. Way to pretty to be fucked from the back.
Count up some money then smoke me a plant. This shit got me higher than drama rent.
Tash dat little bitch and she knowing she that. I said I was done, still doubled back.
If you a side bitch you can not question me. You did some foul shit. You threw a tech at me.
Cook it up right, they done gave me the recipe. Im in the Z06, police aint catching me.
Im still ducking this bitch dats obsessed with me. Cause Im the dope like the coke in the 70's.
Big Body double R truck I got Bo with me. Hog up the lane and they can't get close to me.

I aint got a heart for a hoe. Thats a big no. No life worrying about the next hoe.
Took back the keys to the Benzo. All in her feelings throwing clothes out the window.
Lets take a AK cut in half and call it a drako. Im back one my old ways.Riding with that fire Call it that fuego.
Life insurance on my chain. Reach for it, bust your brain. Loose noodle, no lo mein. Going out he way I came.
